Flooring for upstairs for resale value?

What are people now doing for the upstairs flooring?

I know carpet used to be the de facto choice for bedroom flooring, but I don't know if the infatuation with hardwood flooring means that carpet in the bedrooms is now out and people are expecting hardwood or something that looks like hardwood in the bedrooms too.

I'm putting in new flooring downstairs- it might be hardwood or just vinyl. So, I'm debating whether or not I should also install the same flooring upstairs so that it matches the flooring downstairs. Or, if I should keep the upstairs flooring as carpet.
