Those tools do look very handy and effective for removing these older baby trees. I would encourage you to patrol often for new tree (and whatever other weeds) sprouts so they can be much more easily pulled by hand. Ruffle your hand around the Hostas and Pachysandra to find them. Then you never have "weeding to do" either. Every day, I pull at least 50 sprouting acorns, some days many more, but that only takes about 5 minutes, while I walk around looking at everything, also with scissors to remove any flowers past their prime. Recently went on a vacation for 10 days and came back to an hours' worth of pulling. Big difference, and that was a chore.

Either your pump is not pushing any water, (probably because it lost its prime) or you have a broken line somewhere. If its a broken line, let it run awhile. You will get a very wet spot. That's where the break is.

It is possible that it survived composting. The usual explanation is past plantings with fruit drop or having gone to seed. The tomatoes are major volunteers with frequent fruit drop missed during fall clean-up. Several varieties resemble the Charentais. If a hybrid from the compost you may have one of the parent varieties. Compare the flesh color, taste and rind to identified varieties for a possible determination.

I did end up writing GW a note to complain yesterday, as the shadow ads along one side were still showing up despite my bumping my pop-up blocker up to high. I was also getting more of the giant ads and the ad blocker that GW supposedly put in for us to use was still not working.
