can a charantais melon just pop up from nowhere?

I've let a couple of mystery vines grow this year in my garden. One turned out to be a cantelope which I've never grown but have eaten, so figure maybe from the compost pile. Another melon I have never heard of, eaten, or grown looks like a charantais melon which I found online. Could this be from birds transplanting seeds or could it be a hybrid of the cantelope? I haven't opened one up yet but it has a strong melon smell. Would love to hear from any melon growers out there what your thoughts are. Thanks
