About me: 35+ years with backyard vegetable garden. The last 25 years have been organic. Believe strongly in building the soil and now have a 4-bin compost. Use every trick in or not in the book. Like to see confirmation of any suggestion from another source before using. Use a 4 year plan for rotation in my 2500 sq foot garden and a 5000 sq foot plot on a beef farm. I do put a lot of faith in companion planting with inclusion of flowers and herbs.
Have seen vast improvement in past five years as the organic switch has enhanced my soil. I did have a sandbox to work with and now see a dark, rich near-loam. The last two years have employed raised beds to reduce compaction and increase yield. It does work.
Looking forward to active participation and learning.
To confirm my knowledge and skills I obtained my Certificate of Specialization in Organic Agriculture as the Nova Scotia Agricultural College. Most of my professors sit on national association boards.
I also grow and seed save heirloom varieties.

My zone is: z5b Nova Scotia
