itrom.......Last year when chickadees took over our fave BB box after so many year of having only BBs in the box there were reclaim fights but the BBs did not win and we never saw any all summer and that was sad. That particular box is the one we can see easily and we love to watch them and take photos. There are two other boxes nearby so I kept asking myself why can't the cute chickadees just use those...lol. BBs have moved into the fave box and I hope there is peace! Good luck and enjoy whatever nests ...or...put up another box and if you do make sure you follow instructions as to how far from the fist one.

Thanks Cathy. I do love the Sialis site. I have been using it for years. It really does provide so much terrific info. I don't really want to install a hole reducer because I actually did put the box out for the Blues. The Chickadees just claimed it as soon as it went up!! :o) I love the little Chickadees and don't mind at all if they use the box, but I want the Blues to be able to use it too.

If the eggs are sterile the mother will leave in due time. tj

I just had wrens kill chickadees in all three of my chickadees boxes.two with wren guards On them it’s been a frustrating year with the wrens for me.And I’m an experienced box landlord.Wrens killed chickadees that where 2days from fledging in both boxes.Have You heard the wren singing On your property? its warm out now there’s a lot of bugs for them to feed with when it’s cold outside then I would say maybe take it off.
