Here is some more of what is blooming among my roses right now. I'll probably add to this same thread as more roses open up.

The first blossom of Quietness this season looks a bit strange...

This is actually the second blossom of the Impressionist, but the first was before I found my camera...

My favorite rose, Geranium Red

This season's first blossom of Gruss an Coberg, looking a bit paler than the pic from last summer I used on the name that rose game thread...

Sophie's Perpetual

I was trying to take a full bush picture of Spong, but the farther away i got the paler the roses became on camera. This is a fair compromise. Not bad for a new band. Yes, I know I should have plucked the rest of the buds once I saw it was the right rose....

And finally, a bud of Condesa de Sástago, so you can really see the bicolor

Gorgeous roses. I love everyone of them, but that Sophie's Perpetual is really special.

I'm always advising people that there is a period, like you're seeing, where the wonderful color of the fresh Hydrangea is gone and you're left with a less than ideal Hydrangea flower color. This is the worst part of the flowering season. If you're patient, the flowers will begin to change color again as they go into the Fall. You'll appeciate the color in the Fall. This happens in the North, maybe not so much in the hot South. But you need to be patient through this time. Many times I get a lot of brown petals from, I presume, the fungus that will attack the petals during the early part of the summer. That certainly doesn't look attractive, but you'll find that this brown will drop off before Fall and you won't see that by then. Patience. Hay

LOL Brandon. Why do you think I'm hear asking you all? ;D I can't remember either. I've had to cheat and look at pictures I took. Chris, thanks I hadn't even thought of those. If we do change the date of the tour I wanted to be able to give a list to our members soon so they could plan ahead and maybe get some things in the ground before next spring.

add to that the blooms on Hellebore that hold their shape and start changing colors at that point. And then there are the hosta textures, Fallopia textures on leaves, Kerria Japonica for a POP of blossom on delicate stems, wild honeysuckle is blooming by then, which is always nice, bulbs like woods hyacinths are coming strong, the late tulips and final daffs. Alliums are strong then, and sanseveria's or Hens and chicks are very handsome and bulking up for the season. Pawlonia trees are making their foxgloves in the trees, and the Mertonensis foxgloves are blooming, not to mention the Amsonia's, some assorted spirea's, the Oak Leaf hydrangea's are budding up, Loripedilum's are unfurling hot pink threads, and Viburnums are starting to crank up. Lilies (orientals and trumpets) are shooting thru the foliage making buds and are attractive, the spring tall phlox start in my flower beds, and the chinese Almond is in peak that that point, as well as the Malvacea or Zebrina's. Ninebarks are blooming too, especially my Diablo which is an eye popper for the foliage alone, but the clusters of white flowers drop you in your tracks.......there are more, but I'd have to go to the May digital files to see......... madgardener up on the ridge, back in Fairy Holler where I've almost moved in all the cacti, succulents, tropicals and tender African bulbs for the season with the barreling front aimed at us. (as of this moment, Nashville is in tornado warnings.)overlooking English Mountain in Eastern Tennessee, zone 7, Sunset zone 36 where it will be more fall like tomorrow so I'll finish up the houseplant trek and tweek the positions

yes, Sophie's only looks that way when she first opens, and then only sometimes. usually she's a bit darker and the colors aren't so well seperated.

You have some really lovely roses, KSGreenman. Great photographs. That Geranium Red is beautiful, although I couldn't really pick a favorite!

I'm impressed, ksgreenman. You have some real beauties in there--and they are all growing in containers? I'm doubly impressed.

Yes, Sophie Perpetual is gorgeous--I'm sorry to hear that is not her usual appearance. So lovely. Well, I guess I can settle for the bi-color bud of Condesa de Sástago--I do like those bi-colors, ya know.

That Rotkäppchen is new to me--I really like it.

Beautiful blooms! Love THE IMPRESSIONIST and ANNE-MARIE DE MONTRAVEL! And yes there is a limit to how many pics you can put in one posting... that's 10.

Very well. Here is the same blossom as above, more fully opened.

aaand, here is a blossom, the one i posted way back on my "found my camera" thread, on the same afternoon it opened, already fully blown. on day two all the petals fall off. This would be why the Condessa is not a more popular rose despite its frequency of blooms and being pretty healthy for a Pernetiana.

while I'm at it, here is Gruss an Coberg more fully opened as well.
