Doesn't seem to boot up properly
Comments (11)Shaddy please ignore your second thread requesting help. I had replied there before realising you had 2 threads running on the same issue. This only causes confusion. Below is what I had written on the other thread............ This is more likely a software issue than anything to do with hardware. Does the loading stop at the same spot each time? How long after the black screen do you wait before you shut down and re-start? Leave it a little longer next time to see if it cures itself as it seems like a corrupt file. Watch the flashing of the activity light on the front of your tower, does it stop about the same time as the black screen? Next time this happens and you reboot take a look here once it is running click Start click Control panel click Administrative tools click Event viewer Do not get frightened off by all the gibberish you see while doing the next bit Shaddy. Just quietly review it for clues so we can help you get this sorted out. Now we have a new window with 2 sides, on the left side click on System. Now look on the right side for red error messages, scrolling down if needed. Double click on any of these to see what it says. You may not understand much of it but look for clues and any error message and error number. There is also a link underlined and in blue text, you can click on that the bring up a help page. When you have finished there go back to the left side of the Event viewer window and click on Application and see what there is there regarding errors or warnings....See MoreThis doesn't seem right. Comments (7)Of course it's wrong to cut out part of a magazine and then sell the cover, whether it's for a dollar, a quarter, or a penny. It's not less of a lie because of buyer beware (blame the victim--make them feel careless) or because it was bargain (blame the victim--make them feel greedy.) Somebody somewhere cut out 16 pages and then put the magazine up for sale like it was whole. It's more comfortable to make up excuses how it could possibly be a mistake or an oversight, but I doubt it. Anybody who cut out half of something in January is going to remember that in March. It's a nasty little trick to pull on a people having a nice day, but don't let one mosquito spoil the whole picnic. *off soapbox*...See MoreBeginner ques: My backstitch doesn't seem to lock the stitches
Comments (4)First off, congratulations on beginning this great adventure of sewing and in such great company. Many of the posters here have taught or are teaching younger ones the "how-to's" of sewing. Your machine is a favorite of many of us here who own the great "T&S" machines. If the machines gears are metal, it is a keeper compared to some of the plastic wonders on the market today. As to your question, I am wondering if your tensions are correct....play with the bobbin and thread tensions and see if that helps a bit. I always reverse the same number of stitches and it works fine for me. When I suggest playing with the tensions, make note of what seems to tighten the stitches snug without making puckers in the fabric. How many layers of fabric and the kind you are using will have to be considered as well. You have your machine and parts - and hopefully the book......check the book - mine came with a troubleshooter chart at the end and see if anything there will help. You could always take it back to the shop and just ask for a quick look and suggestion on how to improve your problem. If you begin your conversation "I just had a chance to work with the machine since getting it back from you and I find "whatever problem" is happening......anything you can thnk of to help?" One of my favorite solutions and it has worked for me countless times....is change the needle. So let us know how you get on.......have fun with your son and do enjoy yourself. A friend of mine found a pattern for frogs and starfish - l piece pattern you cut two of - and her son was sewing up felt "critters" as his first items. They used felt and cut with pinking shears using two colors - back and front and decided to use two threads so her son would see which was the bobbin thread and which was the spool thread. The results were very good and he learned how to turn the fabric and follow the seam guide. Have fun. Budster...See MoreCarpet install Doesn't seem right. (first time homeowner)
Comments (5)I have installed carpet commercially and that was pure laziness to not remove the old tack strip. Think about this---the nails that hold the tack strip in place simply make holes in the tiles. Pulling the old tack strip consists of a pry bar from the inside of the strips, not the outside(with the possibility of prying too deep. Even if the tiles were damaged/torn, simply nailing down new tack strip prevents any further damage. I have experienced rooms where the flooring on the edges of the room were deteriorated and new tack strip would not stay in place long term. Those cases required repair to the flooring, as locating the new tack strips would also eventually fail. The pad was also installed badly. Over all, that is a very sloppy job. That is not a seam, seams are done with obvious seam tap, which is installed w1th special heated irons. And, when done properly, will be as strong as the carpet. Just for giggles, my first job installing carpet involved sewing the seams together, with a big curved needle and thread almost twine size....See Morewhitepinemaple
