Should I prune the blossom buds on my tiny Meteor cherry?

In spring 2014 it was planted in soil too clayey for good growth. It put out some leaves but didn't grow at all. I was going to throw it away come spring 2015, but to my amazement, it started to show green. I wrapped the root ball in burlap and brought it down to the basement, pending preparation of a container and gritty mix. While in the basement, it formed what I thought were leaf buds, but now that it's outside, in gritty mix, those buds are starting to open up into blossoms.

Should I cut off the blossom buds so the plant can concentrate on roots, branches, and leaves, or leave them alone?

Thanks for considering my question!

Bernard
