Comments (57)Elena, I just love your room! It's exotic and has passion and soul. It's marvelous. Here is a torchiere I like better for you. Or perhaps you like this one? Of coures this floor lamp would be yummy. If I had the money I'd get this one. I've always loved these. If you have a base for it (thrift store?) this handmade lampshade would be yummy on a floor lamp. I have a lampshade from this lady (even though I know how to make my own, so you know I really wanted it) and her quality is great -- I love mine. You could do a pair of these on your table lamps. Or, maybe you like this brown one? This red one is a lot like the one I bought. It sure is fun spending someone else's money! hehe I should stop. I have no idea if you'd like any of these. If you do, there are always more like this on eBay... be sure to look in people's shops for more styles....See MoreTell me what you think of my dinning/living room! Pic
Comments (28)I have very large windows and have hung drapery just to frame the window. Used a decorative rod (make sure you get one long enough) which has a middle support. I don't think it will look odd. Do you really need to keep the mini blinds for privacy? I think that they along with not enough material on either end, may be giving the long feeling between the drapes. ` Being white, long thin slats, and drapes so much darker? I think if you want blinds for that window, it may be better to go with a bigger slat blind. JCP often run sales on all of their window treatments. Perhaps you could use 3 sets, I think there are 3 windows comprised into that larger window over the sofa? Mixing holiday decs - not a fan, but if it makes you happy, I think you should do it seeing as it is your home. Also, do think your green is too minty (could be my monitor?). If you want retro, the avacado color posted is a great option. While I hate to paint, it is said it is the easiest thing to change (next to your mind, lol). I like your DR, but I would choose one of either the mad hatter mirror or the metal piece. Seems like they are competing and neither are winning when hung together. Oh, and can you send me the green glass piece on your coffee table, lol. Love it....See MoreTell me what you think of these chairs please
Comments (17)OMG, BEDBUGS!!! Well, they had a Hoarders show where they had to clean out the whole house because of infestation of those. The family lived in tents out in the yard, up in Massachusetts, and it was getting to be late September, with first frost coming around mid October. The house had to be cleared out so exterminators could tackle the problem. But Mart, I like BOTH tan chairs. Maybe you can get him to lower the price a little by buying both chairs. And PAINTING the fabric would be easier on the lighter colored chairs. I think you will discover everything dark is not a good idea. Keep the space evenly balanced. Naturally the loveseat is a good option for a smaller space. And by having two chairs alike, you open up more possibilities with arrangements in the future. Get them both. Don't sweat the color of the sofa or the chairs. You can get yourself some painter drop cloth canvas which is heavy duty and cheap, and then with a GLUE GUN and fabric glue sticks, can make some washable slip covers. Or just throw them over the furniture and pin them in place. The reason I have simple loose cushions on my living room furniture is so I can strip off the dirty covers and wash them easily. Two little dogs and parrots take a toll on furniture and tidiness! Such slip covers will look very casual and comfy and BEACHY most of the year. Lose them in the winter when dark colors is good. But I like the way your fireplace goes up up, quite modern. The pair of chairs facing it, even from across the room, is a classic setup. They will help direct traffic AROUND and not through the middle of the room. To combat the "dark hole" look of the wood blinds, I'd think about a swing arm drape on each window. The whole wall is so symmetrical that treating them as a single unit, one left one right, with the drapes tied back low left and right, would further call attention to the symmetry. The dark blinds would make it possible to keep down glare from the windows should you one day choose to mount your TV above the fireplace. Yeah, you can put a flat panel up there and build a sort of furniture box with folding doors to cover it when not in use, I suppose. But the box even if left open could give you a way to hide wires, you will also need a DVD unit there, or a cable box whatever. Unless you have what they are calling a MAN CAVE space. I think that is ridiculous term myself. What happened to COUCH POTATO? Oh well, that just slipped out. Sorry. :) Been watching DIY channel, and it is heavy with testosterone and a lot of hollering, not at all laid back, like being at boot camp....See MoreTell me what you think of these cabinets together
Comments (5)I'm no design person, but I'm not sure about the door style planned for above the MW. It doesn't look as nice as the elongated glass one below it, so if its on a short upper cabinet, I think I would choose to go with the door of the base cabinets above the mw rather than have something compete with the glass doors that really should be the the focus. I think I prefer the chestnut color to tone down the orange undertone that seems more prominent in the pecan. I think the mixed color floor will be nicer with your perimeter cabinet choice whereas the gorgeous grey slate will be very cool toned against the warmth of the wood tone. With that floor, I would then go with the sea grass or harbor mist island (see grass seems best, but I would hesitate to commit to green, but since you love it....). But again I will reiterate that my preferences are based on my instinct rather than on any design expertise. It's a nice space. Good Luck!...See Morecpartist
