Hoya ID please?

Hello,

I have been a long time lurker, & I have learned a lot from many of your informative posts, although I do have a question about one of my Hoyas. I have one that looks like a Krimson Queen, however the stems are much thinner, and the leaves are thinner. Could this even be a Hoya? From a distance you can't tell the difference between my "real" KQ, you only notice it when you are up close.

Maybe hoya carnosa variegata or krimson princess.

It is not Krimson Princess, which is variegated on the inner leaf portion, instead of being albomarginated, which is what you have. There can be so much difference between the same plants, but if the leaves and stems are substantially thinner than your known Krimson Queen, I would look up other albomarginated hoyas and compare. Sometimes, the only way to ID a hoya is to wait for it to bloom.

I know you have all been losing sleep over this puzzler, but I think it's a ciliata. I just purchased a slightly older ciliata from the ALWAYS AND FOREVER AMAZING Gardino's and they look *exactly* the same. I'm so tickled. And I'm probably totally wrong, but whatever, it's Thursday night and I'm getting my Hoya on. :D

Oh good, glad that's correct. I was going to suggest the ruschifolia name, as I have this, but wasn't sure & I knew Denise will know as I've had some from her yrs. ago. I believe my current one is from GreenToes, if you knew him when he was posting here. Before you return it, pls know that it's an easy grower & has charming tiny white flowers btwn the leaves. Maybe consider keeping it? It takes the same care as Hoyas. But I do know what you mean abt H curtisii, which I've been trying to replace for a while myself. Glad to solve your mystery.

Well, I think all carnosas (and some carnosa relatives like fungii and dasyantha) bloom pretty much the same, no?

I think they are both 'Krimson Queen'. Stem and leaf thickness can be cultural.

Hello, and thank you all for your answers! I did not know that stem and leaf thickness had to do with the culture vs the actual plant type. I think the reason that I was perplexed is the fact that I am used to seeing hoyas with beefy stems. This narrow stemmed one that i have is quite unusual to me.
