I had about 3 weeks without any telemarketing calls. Now they're back to 2 or 3 a day. I don't answer, but it's still annoying to get them.

What is worse is all of the junk mail that comes every day. At least with a call, you have the option of not picking up. I need to buy a stamp that says " return to sender."

She called me again yesterday, too!! I had hoped she departed for the happy hunting ground. Alas, no such luck.

There's a comic that makes a good living pranking telemarketers. They'd call and for instance , he'd answer while in the middle of committing a murder. Very convincing. Turn the tables on these mouth breeders, and prank'em good.

My annoying call is from "Sharon", my local google search coordinator!

Landline. Only use cell for emergencies. Its usually off. I just delete whatever has come in once in awhile.

Last Saturday we kept getting calls from different numbers with different State Initials. We don't answer any calls we don't recognize. I did a google search on one of the numbers and it seems like it was someone that was going to tell me my computer was bugged. Oh my, and my computer is new. After about 8 calls, they finally quit. I do have our number listed on the do not call list, but what good did that do. lol

I bought a land line phone with a call block feature. When an unwanted caller calls, add that number to call block . It works great, but sometimes they will change the number by as little as a single digit so you have to keep up. But it's worth the trouble.

Like wanto I just use my cell for emergencies and long distance, so it's usually turned off. I get unwanted calls on my land line, too, but I have that old-fashioned thing called an answering machine. They seldom leave messages, so I don't have to cope with them. Love the 'erase' button.

There was a Seinfeld episode, where Jerry answered the phone and it was obviously a phone salescall. He said "May I have your name and phone number, so I can call you back during dinner?" And then he hung up.

Should try to time it so they call when you're doing a colonblow prep for a colonoscopy. Sing along with THIS tele-terrorist! Ba-WHOOOSH! :D

I also get calls from Rachel and, and now Heather from card services. Twice I have pressed 1 to speak with someone and when I began asking them to remove me from their list, they hung up. I've also gotten the computer calls. One time I figured I would waste the guys time and played dumb, expressing dismay and surprise that my computer could be compromised, and that I didn't have such and such icons he asked me to look for. He finally caught on, gave me a couple of "f" words and a threat, and hung up. They haven't called back. ;)

These are NOT legitimate businesses calling you. So what laws are you expecting them to obey? They don't obey any laws, they are crooks. Every time you talk to them, your name goes on the "easy list". Just hang up.

You need to record a msg on your voicemail that says....the number you have reached is no longer in service. Alert your friends that you have done this do they don't freak.

I realize they are not legitimate businesses. Thought it was worth a try though, after a few years of ignoring their calls. No matter what I do they will keep calling, so I figured there was no harm in trying. Besides that, I never said we are expecting them to obey laws - as you said, they are crooks, they aren't going to obey laws. Lastly, we are not "easy." We don't buy anything over the phone unless we initiate the call to a legitimate service or merchant.

If you just spend time talking to them, they mark your name down as "responsive" (what I meant as easy), and they sell those lists.

I'm sure you're right in general about the "responsive", but I'm pretty sure that's not what they put by my name when the computer virus people called me. It was a male with a vaguely Asian accent, and I was in bed asleep (morning). He started by saying I had a virus, and I said in an angry, you woke me up, voice, "How do you know that?" He purported to be from Microsoft which made no sense, and it certainly wasn't my ISP, which potentially could know both my IP address and phone number. When he couldn't answer immediately, I forcefully said, "This is a SCAM! You're lying. I'm calling the attorney general and you're going to jail." Sometime around then he hung up. I did report it. And I haven't heard a peep since. :)

I use nomorobo. Nuisance calls get disconnected after one ring. Pretty soon they just give up.

I use PhoneTray Free as a caller ID and call blocking program. Works great. Been using it for years and couldn't be happier. I started using it initially as a voice caller ID and found it far more than just a CID. You can add numbers to it so you don't have to wait for them to call before being blocked. There's a pay version that has numbers in it already but I use the free version. It uses CID and you can choose the message they get when you block it. There's several preloaded or record your own. You can even set it to send a special message to a certain number, for instance, if your kid is calling, you can make a message to say something like "Call back between 4pm and 5pm" or whatever you want to do/say. It's easy to back up the blocked numbers too in case of computer issues or to transfer to another system. Well thought out program.
