I am on the do not call list too but I still get calls from her and i don't even have any credit cards. Annoying!

Oh, I get that one, too, all the time. Thank heavens for Caller ID. I don't anser any calls where I don't recognize the name or number. If it's not a nuisance call, they will leave a message and I call right back.

The most annoying for me is a call advertising cruises that I get on my cell phone. It starts with a big blast of sound that is supposed to be the horn of a ship.

I've gotten that call at least twice. Ignore it. My local phone company offers a way to report unwanted calls. After you hang up, dial *57.

I see no reason why telephone companies can't halt these robocalls. Having Caller ID is no help when you have to go TO the phone when it rings to see who is calling. If this problem continues to grow, I'll get serious about cancelling our land line.

I am on the Do Not Call list, but still get calls from her as well as another robocall 4-5x per week that very loudly asks "ARE YOUR CARPETS DIRTY?" It's different phone numbers almost everytime and most are my area code, so that makes it really frustrating.

We get that call from her too, plus at least twice a day, sometimes 3-4 times a day, every day, we get a call from a local phone number. I finally answered that local number call. Hubby had ordered some septic tank stuff TEN years ago from this company and now they are wanting to sell him something else. When I said, "Just mail me the litereature to read." they hung up and then the calls continued. Twice now I have blown my whistle into the receiver and so far, thank heavens, for the last two days they haven't called again.

I get that call several times a week, sometimes a day! We are also on the do not call list. I've even gotten one on my cell phone. That really made me mad!

A friend of mine donated money to a political party about a year ago. She now receives at least 8 calls a day wanting more. She also recieves a lot of mail wanting donations from the same party.

She did lay low for awhile but she is back here too.

I too am on the do not call list,doesn't stop them all.I just don't answer..

I gave a donation to the BC organization several months ago and I think they passed my info on to everyone out there.After awhile of getting these calls I told them I will never give a donation to anyone else,because they all trade info.

It's sad and unfair but I don't even give to charities in peoples names anymore because you never ever stop getting mail. I sent a donation 10 years ago to a nursing home when sisters MIL died in another city and I'm still getting huge mailings from them, always with an envelope of course. Calls are worse.

I've had those calls too way too many times. Yes, they have started here in Ga. We also are on the do not call list on the land line and cell numbers. What irritates me about those calls is that when one phone number rings so do the cells. I never know which phone to answer and usually just don't answer. One of the cell phones is not even in our name. Drives me nuts. I just do not answer the phone but will look to make sure it is not a family member.

Looks like I'm lucky, as I only get them occasionally.

I got one the other day telling me that there was something wrong in my computer and they could fix it.

When I asked how they got into my computer, and insisted ...

... she hung up.

The ones that get me (and I haven't got them often - and none lately ... but don't tell them that, please) are the ones where you reply to a dead line ... which goes on for about 10 - 12 seconds ... then there's a click, followed by the busy signal.

May be a robodialer, that gets a person on the line and the warm body can pick it up and start talking, if they've finished with another person(victim?).

Sometimes when that happens, I have an interesting conversation with myself.

What's this they say ... that talking to yourself isn't so bad ... but it's when you start answering yourself back that things start getting a bit sticky?

ole joyful ... who figures that talking to one's self can be an intelligent conversation ... i.e. monologue
