Not being the worlds most partcular person has it`s advantages. I love the surprise of seedlings, what is true of plumeria is true of most plants. I really am not all that fond of ordering plants on-line, it`s hard to have plants shipped here because of the heat. I try not to do any trades in the summer, then I run into the fact it is too cold in the north. I really prefer local growers, local nurseries, plant sales, swaps. Luckily there are multiple people in our area to buy plumeria from IE: Emersons. You can get a much bigger plant for less than a cutting. I think every plant society raises money through sales, the bromeliad society has a great sale every year in Houston and the daylily socieity sales must be avoided to prevent draining of the bank account. To feed my other addictions I have a friend who raises bromeliads-Jimbos nursery in Santa Fe, amaryllis co-ops, a plant co-op, Cactus King on the north side of Houston, Josephs nursery in Pearland, Houston Garden center (70% off) for citrus!, plant swaps and of course the gardenweb forums exchanges, Maas nursery in Seabrook....I need a 20 step program! Althea, bird of paradise, butterfly weed, turks cap, cone flowers, cestrum orange peel, sunflowers, salvia, giant bird of paradise, coral vine, passionvines, crinums, hibiscus, penta, elephant ears, duranta, rhipsalis, brugmansia, datura, shrimp plant, esperanza, American germander, canna, African blue basil, gourds, bitter melon, vinca, bulbine, bouganvilla, a stray crocosmia, cacti and succulents, jatrophas, potato vine, begonia, plumbago, vitex, pride of barbados, roses, clerodendrums, frogbit, water lilies, plumeria, rockrose, poinsetta, haemelia, butterfly bush, butterfly vine, gloriosa lily,gardenia... there is some other stuff out there blooming but can't think off hand. We just got a lot of rain and of course we like to water!! Tally HO!

Didn't make it for the first time in 9 years. More expert advice, joint the Fort Worth Botanical Society and you get to go to the plant sale on the Friday before the public sale. Sometimes the members completely clean out particular plant varieties and then on Saturday, the public never even knows what they missed. There are lots of other benefits to membership too. Like free admission to the Japanese Garden and many other botanical gardens around the country. For example, I was in Norfolk last year and was able to visit their garden (admission $7) for free, and got a 15% discount on purchases from the gift shop. Cheryl
