Gordonr - Started experiementing with the Danby today. I have to revise what I said about the Maytag, but I think that is mostly due to it dying it's slow death. Right after my post the next load took over an hour, but it didn't feel like it was heating. Oh well it's history now, it servered me well. First load today was 3 pair Jean's. I wanted to try denim by itself. They dried in 40 min set on cotton, dry for storage. It does say in the book that a full load is more efficient and that wasn't full. Hopefully next time I'll have more in there for that. The second load was a mixed bag of dark colored clothing. It took about 45 min, but I set it this time on the synthetic setting, which seemed to be a lower heat. After it was done, i probably should have chosen Cotton, but I want to get a feel for the different settings. I also think I will be sorting my laundry a bit differently now, to work with the dryer at it's best. I'll keep you posted. Everything came out soft, nothing was over cooked, that was a major plus. My setting choices are: cotton or synthetic and then you choose, machine iron (wettest), iron, slighly damp, dry for storage, or very dry. There is also a timed dry and an air fluff (no heat). When the cycle ends it beeps 4 times and goes into anti-crease mode. I believe that will last for up-to an hour. The dryer does reverse tumble and so far, nothing has come out wrinkled, another plus. I'll be doing another load or two tomorrow, so I will see how well that works. Hope this helps. I'm thinking I should be able to get most loads dry in 40 min or less. Not bad in my book, that's well before the washer would finish even on the shortest load and I've read on the various web sites that most dryers are timed to the washer, so this would be better than that. sue

If you decide on an LG washer, don't bother with the fancy features like steam, etc. but do get one with an internal heater (if it has a Sanitary cycle then it has an internal heater). We got a simple LG washer with a heater on a black Friday special at Best Buy for $500 (we did opt for a matching dryer exactly because of the stacking need, that was also $500). So the whole set was $1000. I'm very pleased with Best Buy's installation service, and very happy with the new washer. Sears service is not what it used to be. Most of their sales people don't know anything about the products they sell.

mysteryclock I just had my Axxis dryer fixed once and for all. What an ordeal. Really would have been easy if I got the right repairman right off the bat. I've been all over this forum trying to figure out what has been up with my machine. I knew it wasn't right. It just took forever to dry and then eventually i kept getting this huge puddle of water under the machine after a while. It was drying sometimes and acting funny at others. Ultimately after 4 service calls and replacing all the parts on the entire dryer, it turned out to be the heater. For anyone with a condensation dryer, i cannot stress this enough- get your machine checked once in a while. I had 4 blissful years with it and it was telling me gently that something was wrong by slowly wigging out. If i would have had it looked at when it was just acting weird, I would have had to replace far less! I got a GREAT Bosch tech, who i would highly recommend to anyone in the LA/Pasadena area. It took me a while to find him but he fixed the problem in less than an hour once he diagnosed it. If anyone wants to have their Bosch or other German appliance fixed, call Ricky at Appliance Masters. I've heard some of their techs are not so hot. This guy was a senior tech and he was the best. After all the drama with this machine and service call after service call, i'd say this guy has a halo and angel wings! He fixed it in less than a hour once the parts were ordered. These high end German appliances are great unless something is off. I have had probably 5 repairmen with my various German appliances in the last 6 months. All of the good ones said the same thing- great appliances unless you are having a problem with them. I guess the moral of the story is- it's better to pay a bit to maintain and get check ups once in a while rather than wait until the machine goes up in flames or in my case out in a puddle of vaguely warm water. All it needed was a new heater, not a complete overhaul, which i wound up with anyway. In my house full of Gaggenau, Liebherr and Bosch, call me converted. I'm going to get these insanely expensive appliances looked at frequently so they stay calibrated. It seems to make all the difference in the world. I'm humbled and feel kind of bad that this was such a colossal headache. I still love my washer and dryer. It's the best purchase I've made, with a close second being the Gaggenau dishwasher. I love me some German appliances!!

I was able to stack non-compatible pairs or non-stackable pairs models of Samsung Washer and Dryer. The washer broke and we brought a new Samsung Washer WF42H5000. Older Samsung dryer model is DV206AES/XAC. As per Samsung the new washer WF42H5000 was stackable only to a relatively new dryer model DV42H5000EW/AC. But we were not happy to buy a new dryer as old dryer was working good. This is what we did: 1. New Samsung Washer WF42H5000 will be at the surface. Stacked the old dryer on top of it. 2. Used old (which was already existing in the previous set-up) stacking kit. I don't know its name. 3. The handy man bored/drilled new slots in the behind of the washer so that the steel bracket from dryer correctly fitted to the new washer slots. That's it, we were done. 4. The washer runs without any problem, no vibration. It runs normal. 5. The main problem which we foresaw was how the steel brackets will come into correct slot but that was achieved by the handy man as he bored/drilled suitable slots to the new washer to fit the steel brackets from dryer. Please make sure that both washer and dryer are of same width, in most cases it will be same, say 27 inches.
