It does sound like spyware. Christmas is a big time for viruses. 3 things I use and all are free and at download.com make sure it is the free ones. IE most downloaded. AVG antivirus adaware spyware remover Zone alarm firewall These 3 are much better than any one all in one pay program. I have done networks and computer since DOS. These will rid and stop computer Trojans, spyware, viruses, hackers and 99.9% of the external computer programs from internet access.. Nothing can protect from human error but restore points. Jim

Hi Snidely. In fact, other apps open with no problem. It did no come to my mind, that this indicates OS is not rather the cause. Today ,still searching for an answer I found, right- clicking ' Mswkscal.wcd ' that the files is open with Internet Explorer, what astonished me, as the file extension 'wcd' opens with Microsoft Works by default.. accordingly I am trying to change file association with right program. I keep selecting Microsoft Works with no awaited result. It can be change to any program but Microsoft Works. I know,I got obsessive. Must stop it. thank you very much for sharing your knowledge. Regards. Hala.

Sorry, I was gone for awhile and just got back to this. You're right, Jasdip, I do have Windows XP and Internet Explorer with the little blue "e". I've also installed Mozilla/Firefox and it opens much faster than IE with my MSN home page. (Is it that new virus that is causing the page to not load or time out or take forever to load?) Glad to have Firefox for sure. Thanks for that! Thanks for all the input. I'll save the info. And, I'm sorry to say, Poohbear, but I'm going back to Incredimail. It's so darn fogey friendly! I don't like Outlook Express and I tried Thunderbird yesterday and didn't like it. Actually, it's not me as much as my DH who doesn't like them. He's not a computer enthusiast and likes to learn something once and not have it changed later. But, I don't use all the Incredimail stuff...no fancy stationary, no emoticons. And, when I receive an email that's been forwarded many times and I like it, I clean it up before I forward it. Sometimes I send it to myself and forward it from there. I wish I didn't have to have all of Incredimail gallery stuff, etc. I guess if you go Premium, you don't have to have all the ads. Oh, well, my DH is happy, I'm happy and now we have a happy home...LOL!!! Thanks again all! Leslie/KS

If you're using a wireless set [keyboard and mouse]...it [or they] probably needs new batteries, Janie. Depending upon your length of daily usage...most batteries won't last much longer than a month or two [if that] if you're continually on your 'puter. As an aside to the above suggestion...I was going bonkers changing batteries in my one and only wireless mouse until I realized...after a lengthy investigation...that I have a geographic magnetic field very near my home. I was going through batteries about every 2 - 3 days. I returned to a wired mouse and keyboard immediately...never to benefit from anything wireless again. The only reason my entire system doesn't seem to be affected by this phenomenon is that my internet access if via cable broadband. HTH..... Anne
