Sweet autumn clematis and Jackmanii together on deck railing--crazy?

I would like to grow a flowering vine up a trellis under my elevated deck and have it come up onto the deck railing and spread laterally a bit to add some interest. The deck is about 8 feet off of the ground with another 3-4 feet of height with the railing. I had thought to use type III clematis because I could cut the vines back in the fall and not have brown vines over the winter. I'd also like to have a longer flowering period, so I had the idea to grow SAC and Jackmanii together. Is this a crazy idea given how vigorous SAC is?

If this is a bad idea, any ideas for a better pairing that would still have a long combined flowering time? Maybe a different colored clem than Jackmanii that could stand up to the SAC? I'm also open to other vines than clematis if they can be pruned back. Thanks!
