White or off white trim? Help!
Comments (4)It sounds to me like you aren't going to be happy with any ancillary wall interruptions that don't match the trim color. Therefore, the 2 choices are you go with eveything white, or you find a color that in which you can get your switch plates, outlet plates, t-stat trim, vent grills, etc. and then match your trim color to that. Naturally, what will happen down the line is you'll install something new that's not available in that color. To be forever matchable, white is the only way to go....See MoreWhites & Off-whites combo for Classic, Clean, Bright but Warm Kitchen
Comments (6)Finally made a decision! Had a color consultant from the painting company come out and look at paint samples and tile. Decided an off-white cabinet vs white would look best based on the rest of the kitchen and house. Picked the tile we liked best and the BM Maritime White we originally picked for cabinets and walls. We'll use the same white trim I have in the rest of the house. There's enough of a contrast where it looks good and that's what I've done with the rest of the house --and consistent with the decor style. My 1926 house has a lot of nice moldings, large baseboards, and trim and we show it off!...See MoreHelp! Picking kitchen cabinet colors, need help with off-white/creams
Comments (14)Aw man, thanks for the comments guys! After being in this house with small kids for eight years, the cabinets are showing wear and there is quite a bit of water damage on many of them and some are broken (didn’t show you that photo!). So...that was where my head was at with going ahead and painting the cabinets. They are already priming today so this is a done deal! In my area, painting cabs is still a big thing (we might steer behind the times a little) and a big thing people look for in resale (we could be moving in a couple years). Honestly, it might not be trendy but I still love my granite! It hides stuff so well and never looks dirty. And I never even notice my backsplash and I just don’t care that much about it. It’s hard for me to warrant changing something just for cosmetic reasons (counter and backsplash) versus need (cabs). We got an amazing deal on the painting so I feel good about it. I’m going full steam with Antique White. After looking at it forever and being in complete decision making paralysis, that’s what I’m going with! I’m going with brass/gold knobs to add a little bit of funky and I have lots of Anthropologie-esque and plants to add character. I have a very open floor plan with my living room right there in all it’s colorful glory, so I’m thinking the lighter will look nice. I’ll be happy to post a pic when I’m done. Thanks for listening!!...See MoreOyster White vs Lennon vs Fantasy Brown granite for Off-White Kitchen
Comments (14)Thank you very much for the advice. I like Fantasy Brown a lot. I am not sure if it would work in my counter with the seam at the corner. It seems like pieces of Oyster White or Lennon are easier to join together discretely. Also, with the small appliances on the counter - microwave, toaster, coffee maker and kettle - I am not sure how much granite flow I will be able to see at a time. Is Oyster White look too simple in your opinion? What backsplash do you suggest to make it more visually interesting? What color of the floor tile is the best? My kitchen opens to the hallway/living room with red oak floor. I prefer not to have hardwood in the kitchen....See MoreVal McLemore
