Granite Countertop seam question

I have a new construction house on contract. The granite was installed last week. When we went to look at it, I discovered that the seam is quite noticeable. It looks like the 2 pieces of granite have a different pattern and different color.
What do you guys think? Should I ask the builder to fix it? How can it be fixed?

Comments (44)These are my pics of my countertops placed Friday June 22, 2018. I cried looking at these seams. It looks so cheap. Fabricator explains that's the way it comes. I explained that I shouldn't be able to see the seams so clearly. It looks so unprofessional. They ended up taking them back to their warehouse. In hopes they say if it is quality control will try and fix it just to make it look better. Otherwise I will have to pay an additional fee for them to come out again to install. I just don't know what to do and if still looks the same. This is the first time I've replaced my counters in 24 years. I don't and can't live with it. looking at this for another 24 years. It looks so cheap and it really was not it's a lot of money to me. I hope fingers crossed that they will fix this problem. They never told me that there would be such seams. I thought the edges were done by a machine and it would be all one piece. I have read up on this and now understand there are seams. But now I do know that they should not look like this. Comments (19)@kel_kat5 - It is a mistake to think that Dayana’s situation is representative of granite counters. Most importantly, the Bahamas White granite she pictured looks like it’s in the family of the Imperial White or Kashmir granites, which is notorious for behaving more like marble and staining easily because it is more absorptive than other granites, I.e. porous. If one is looking for a granite with a white background, check out the granites in the family of Alaska White, White Springs, Bianco Delicatus, and Lennon, which are pretty bullet-proof. I’ve had different granites in different homes, and none even needed sealing, and were carefree, and we didn’t baby them. There are a thousand granites out there, and they should not all be lumped under the same umbrella. Quartz is a great choice if you want a more uniform appearance to your counters. There are stories on this forum of Quartz staining, scorching and chipping, and having resin pools. I actually think Quartz is a wonderful choice for counters. Comments (33)Joe...also....the corbels under the granite were from previous countertop. There are 2 and the counter on the side with the crack does not meet it...they filled in gap with epoxy. I have a call in to the fabricator company...they also sell the slabs and installed. Am I being unreasonable about the crack? I can see it and feel it. I spent a lot of money for these tops and am also using as full height backsplash. They are supposed to install tomorrow which obviously will not happen until they come out and we discuss the counter concerns....See MoreUser
