Granite counter top renovation only - how messy?
Comments (5)I would recommend taking out everything from the top drawer and under the sink. If taking everything out from top drawer is not an option, I would put something in the drawers that would cover everything - especially if there is a seam over that area. All our top drawers had bits of stuff fall in them from the install and I'm glad my drawers were empty....See MoreWhat do you put on your new granite counter tops?
Comments (15)We just had our template done yesterday so I won't have granite for another 2 weeks or so but I'll probably do something similar to what I've done in the past. I have a clear glass bowl that I keep lemons and limes in (I use lemons a lot in cooking) I also have a paper towel holder and my my coffee pot out and usually a small potted plant on the sunny part of my counter. I cannot live without having my cookbook out so I have a decorative plate stand that I use for it (see link below). The majority of my cookbooks are stored over my range in the cupboard and I have to drag a chair over...so instead I've compiled my most frequently used recipes into one book and it sits on the counter. Here is a link that might be useful: plate stand similar to the one I use for my cookbook...See MoreGranite counter top different color
Comments (2)I had a friend who had a piece of her granite "enhanced" to try to match a much darker piece that was next to it. It helped darken it a little bit, but it still didn't match. She was not at all happy with the result....See MoreReplace range with cooktop without new counter top?
Comments (20)Joseph Corlett, the existing edge profile is eased. Is it more difficult to seam to finished edges? Will there be cutting/grinding required in the house? I imagined that they would get the two pieces cut to size and attach them, maybe with some supports underneath. Is it more complicated than that? Should I just get a new countertop instead of considering this patch job? damiarain, thank you for all the links of the drawer units under induction cooktop. I am aware that there are clearance concerns for the top drawer. However, all photos there also show new countertops under the cooktops, which brings me back to the original question of how required a new countertop is for a cooktop install. This discussion is telling me that this new cooktop installation is more complicated that I originally imagined. I thought replacing 30" range with 30" cooktop would pretty standard. I need to consider leaving the range in place until I get enough money to get a new cooktop, drawer units AND a countertop....See MoreLaura Patalino
