Anyone know if one can switch doors on Gaggenau Oven

Comments (0)I need to replace my front door with two side lites and was just going to get a painted steel door, but the owner of the store saw me looking at their stained fiberglass display door and said he would sell it to me for 50% off as he wants to get rid of it and put a more modern model on display. It's a craftsman style door. It's a premium fiberglass door with three point multi lock and at 50% off would basically cost me just a bit more than the painted steel door. My concern is that I'm south facing, though I'm in Quebec so a typical summer day would be around 70-80F. I would imagine the sun would take a toll on the door, from what I understood it would be advisable to brush on a coat of UV protection on the door every 2-3 years to keep it looking good. Those of you with fiberglass doors with wood grain, stained to mimic wood, how much maintenance is required? How often do you refresh the UV coating/sealer? How much has the original finished degraded over what period of time for you? I just don't want to take on something that's going to be super high maintenance, or require stripping and re-staining from scratch, compared to a painted steel door which seems like a get it and forget it kind of thing. Thanks!...See Moredoes anyone have a kitchen with doors like these I can see?
Comments (13)Probably the one thing to be aware of is that with such a wide/shallow bevel, some drawers might need to be slab rather than 5-piece (because the center panel will be too small otherwise). Also, is that a groove where the bevel meets the center panel? It almost looks like it in the photo (or it's where stain pooled and that makes it look dark like a groove.) Just wondering if that will end up looking grubby or be hard to clean if it is....See MoreDoes anyone have experience with Sarto doors? I have a mid century mod
Comments (5)We have a set of Sartodoor double barn boors and a set of matching french doors from United Porte. They look gorgeous and go up pretty straight forward. However, the vinyl wrapping on one of the doors is bubbling/separating from the wood and the other came with the vinyl cracked/torn in an area. While they are sending us new doors, it still makes me wonder about the longevity of them. We also got the silk white color and while it is very clean looking and silky, they get dirty from the slightest touch of even a 'clean' hand. Further, they're not paintable, according to Sartodoor so we're stuck with cleaning them as much as we can but some dirt smudges are pretty much permenent; like pencil marks from measurements during install. Some of those pencil marks got worked into the pores of the vinyl and are permanent stains now. The door frame and trim is also vinyl wrapped and not paintable. So, screw and nail holes aren't really able to be caulked because the caulk turns yellow and dingy when not painted and the vinyl isn't paintable. We did paint a section of the inner door jamb where some sharpy marks and extra holes where made after mis measuring hinge screw holes. With Kilz, the vinyl did take some Behr trim paint. However, it is easily scratched off with your fingernail. Fortunately, the painted section is high and in the jamb where it's not touched. Don't get me wrong, they're great doors especially for the price. But if given the choice again, I'd go with something paintable, not vinyl wrapped....See Moresouthofsa
