I would like to see the largest bare root tree pic anyone has
Comments (14)Ken, you can download a free PowerPoint viewer at the Microsoft Download Center. I'm sure there are other freeware programs out there that will do the same thing. Cool pic of the cedar stump/roots. It's also interesting that fairly large roots from another tree can be seen in the excavation but the tree is not shown in the pictures and doesn't appear to be overhanging the site at all. That seems to show how roots really can extend out more than twice as far as the canopy. Here is a link that might be useful: PowerPoint Viewer at the Microsoft Download Center...See MoreDoes anyone have 2 trash cans in their kitchen?
Comments (22)Thanks everyone. I was so nervous about requesting a second trash at the cabinet design meeting, but no one looked at me like I had two heads. The only thing I was disappointed to learn was that the 15" trash pull-out can only fit one bin. I was hoping to have trash and recycle at both places. Oh well. After posting a question about my desk area in the mudroom, I think I'll put a giant recycling bin in there. If we didn't have so many diapers in this house, our recycling would always be twice our trash. Right now it's about equal. (And no, I just can't go back to using cloth dipes right now. I can barely keep up on laundry as it is.) Thanks for all your feedback! And laughable- thank you for your floorplan feedback. I actually like the "maze-like" design because I like having a bit of separation between the disastrous mess of our mudroom (I know it will be), the bathoom (privacy), and the kitchen. However, I'll be sure to remember your comment, as well as several others, if I get tired of lugging groceries and such into the house in a few years. LOL!!! ;-)...See MoreDoes anyone like having their ovens under the counter?
Comments (41)Writersblock asked: "studio460, did you get the Datid or the Mumsig oven? How do you like it?" Mumsig (which is really made by Whirlpool) in stainless steel (which ain't all that "stain"-less). Bought it over a year ago, before the remodel was actually underway. But, I'm dying to trade it out for the new Ikea Framtid in black that Ikea has in its 2010 catalog, just for its new, super-mod cosmetic treatment (it's actually the same exact oven)! I think the Framtid is ultra-modern-chic with just the right hint of retro (the round analog clock)! Anyway, the oven I have is very functional. Cooks well. I use the convection settings a lot. Kinda small (it's only a 24" oven), but that's what we wanted--small. But, aside from no self-cleaning feature (not available from Ikea in a 24" oven), it looks and works great!...See MoreDoes anyone have experience with Sarto doors? I have a mid century mod
Comments (5)We have a set of Sartodoor double barn boors and a set of matching french doors from United Porte. They look gorgeous and go up pretty straight forward. However, the vinyl wrapping on one of the doors is bubbling/separating from the wood and the other came with the vinyl cracked/torn in an area. While they are sending us new doors, it still makes me wonder about the longevity of them. We also got the silk white color and while it is very clean looking and silky, they get dirty from the slightest touch of even a 'clean' hand. Further, they're not paintable, according to Sartodoor so we're stuck with cleaning them as much as we can but some dirt smudges are pretty much permenent; like pencil marks from measurements during install. Some of those pencil marks got worked into the pores of the vinyl and are permanent stains now. The door frame and trim is also vinyl wrapped and not paintable. So, screw and nail holes aren't really able to be caulked because the caulk turns yellow and dingy when not painted and the vinyl isn't paintable. We did paint a section of the inner door jamb where some sharpy marks and extra holes where made after mis measuring hinge screw holes. With Kilz, the vinyl did take some Behr trim paint. However, it is easily scratched off with your fingernail. Fortunately, the painted section is high and in the jamb where it's not touched. Don't get me wrong, they're great doors especially for the price. But if given the choice again, I'd go with something paintable, not vinyl wrapped....See Moreangelicatownshend
