Makes sense, OB2B! Annkh, you can do this. Keep in mind I tore things out and added drawers to existing cabinets. It'll seem easy after all the stuff you've done! Today is a HUGE day. Hanging my kitchen cabinets and clearing off a counter has given me the boost to start things inside. The space is incredible. One thing moved means 30 other things need to be moved, and the only way to get them out of the way is to install them. So... I've saved and saved and accomplishing this today (if everyone comes like they've said they will!): I have 2 fellows coming to take all my building and hardscape materials back to the barn. All I'll have left is a place to build another garden bed and the materials for that. I'll be able to see my house. If you picture HD's lumber and paving materials area, mine puts theirs to shame for so much stuff packed into a small space. Then we have the back porch, but that's another day. I have H4H coming to take away two, too big pieces I've agonized over. I'm going to give them all the antique doors I bought before I realized my doors were 32" not 30. Other crap, too. With the advent of all this space, I've consolidated furniture and stuff into the den. My friend and her son are coming to sand the LR ceiling and paint it and the walls. I will have 2 rooms in my home painted. The nice thing is that it'll be a clean slate, where I can put just the appropriate furniture and even hang things on the walls. I am SOOOOOOO excited. Now I need to get off the computer and continue to move things. I like things to be ready so people can go to work. When I have enough to pay someone, I'm not going to waste time and $$ with them moving or cleaning. I'll post befores and afters if I can, later!

Baby Raccoon calls...I had this as a stand alone post but I think it belongs here. I have been spending lots of time out in my gardens of late and have been hearing one of my all time favorite sounds of spring. Next to the spring peepers, this sound my be my favorite. It is a sweet trill and it comes from the trees in the mid afternoons during the spring. At first I thought it may be the mating call of a Red bellied woodpecker but I now believe it to be the sound of a baby raccoon calling it's mom. I have a link to a Youtube video I found yesterday, below. The first sound you hear is the call I have been hearing. Have any of you heard this sweet sound and if so, do you think this is a match? I would be interested in hearing your thoughts. Just one more fun and educational aspect to gardening. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-cQAACCyHUc&list=PLD-jnvzNKmD2VvnuHcpnqN4M0smrER1sZ&index=2

No it is not pathetic....that was when you had the LED light on them. J/K!!! They look healthy, sometimes lettuce can be finnaky. I'm guessing the rockwool cubes stay pretty much wet...and thats possibly part of your problem. I am not a fan of rockwool if you cant tell lol. Roots do not get near enough oxygen in a saturated rockwool cube, can remain wet for days, and to me there is too much salt retention in rockwool for lettuce. Yes lighting has alot to do with plant growth. Recommended Lumens pr sq ft is 3k, anything up to 10k can be beneficial. I actually changed my big CFL on my lettuce to 23w/1600lumen bulbs and hardly noticed a difference. Nutrient strength and water temp also have a ton to do with growth rate. If you up your ppm just a touch too much and youll lockout some micros and stunt plants for days/weeks. Thats where rockwool builds salts and retains nutrients and tends to fudge up a bit. Seems to me that by retaining these salts it ups the TDS of the cube over time and burns plants/roots. 70 degree water seems to work the best for me, any lower and it seems plants grow slower, same with warmer and heat increases algae growth. What is the nutrient balance in your ferts? If you round the final numbers down it should work out to 3-2-4. Calcium should be close to same % as nitrogen and magnesium half of those. Im having amazing success with GH maxigro and it is 10-5-14 with 6 calcium, 2 magnesium, 3 sulfer. I do not have to add cal mag as my tap water runs 170ppm which a great part of it is cal/mag. Also testing cns17 which is close to identical nute # as maxigro
