Fleck 5600 Econominder - Salty Tasting Water

I just installed a new 1.5 cu ft
water softener with Fleck 5600 Econominder valve on it. I am using it to soften
my well water that has a hardness of 7 grains. The water softener is installed
after a greensand Iron filter (using a Fleck Valve) to take out the clear water
iron from my well.

The drain pipes for both the water
softener and the iron filter Tee into a ½” Pex line that goes into a
professionally installed drain that has physical separation (to prevent
backflow) from the main drain that flows to the septic tank.

The water after softening is very
slick and the hardness level and iron level are barely detectable. The only
problem that I aware of is that the water tastes salty.

The salty water taste is
especially noticeable after regeneration but I continue to have a salty taste
well after this time.

I am looking for possible causes
& solutions. Any ideas on what to check?
