Firstly the orange daylilies that it seems everyone has is a species daylily called Hemerocallis fulva "Europa" brought to North American a long time ago . It has naturalized and is spread by stolens i.e. root (not seed) and that is why everyone seems to have them. They multiply rapidly. Pink daylilies are out there but they are a hybrid which means somewhere in their background are either the "orange daylilies that everyone has" or one of the other 18 different species of daylilies. Now there are hundreds if not thousands of different pink daylilies and it all depends on what kind of bloom you want to see ...A unusual form ? a spider form ? a bagel form ? do you want bright pink , light pink or something in between . How tall do you want the daylily. Do you want an older daylily ( low cost anywhere between $5 to $15 ) or one of the fancy new daylilies ( can cost upwards of 300 dollars for a single fan for some . Do you want a fast spreader ? i.e. stoloniferous or one that is easier to control ( makes seeds) .What zone are you in ? that may influence whether or not you want an evergreen , semievergreen , or a dormant form of daylily. I would suggest you look online ......google "pink daylily" find the form you like and the name and then search the AHS database for more info on that particular daylily. I personally dont know of any stoloniferous pink daylilies but that doesnt mean they are not out there. Search through the posts here ( alphabetical pics ) maybe you will find one there that you really like. You can also search daylily growers and go to innumerable websites to see what each seller has to offer .

I hope you find the perfect daylily for you .It is out there ( there are at the very least 65,000 registered daylilies out there ....probably a lot more over the the last 10 years).

Thank you so much for all your information. I live in zone 8. I found a place in Pearland (outside of Houston, TX) that has a daylily farm. I think I will go visit and pick one out. I'm really not picky about the shade of pink, I just want one that will stay pink. I like the ones that spread by stolens. You have been a huge help!!!!!!!!!!

That would be Leon Payne with Payne's in the Grass!! Visited his Daylily farm last week. Bought five of his own hybridized Daylilies. Potted them up and they're sitting in my living room. Too cold here to go outside!

I have been to Paula and Leon's place - great people! I live in the east Texas area, and wouldn't miss visiting The Lily Farm in Center - Mark Carpenter. 5 acres of gorgeous, blooming lilies. If you cant find something there........I would be surprised. He digs, you take home in garbage bags. I, too, love pinks. One of my favorites is an older one - Blue Pink Beauty. Also love Pink Aloha, Gone Fishing and any of its siblings. There are all kinds of pinks but I prefer the clear pink with no yellow edging. Go to the Daylily Auction site and look up "pink". Be forewarned - its addicting. I just bought a few today........Have fun! You will find endless choices! Here are a couple of photos - first is Blue Pink Beauty, the second is an unnamed seedling.

Leon and Paula Payne are wonderful people, as are many in the Pearland area. I learned most of what I do with daylilies from Leon. They are founding members of the Lone Star Daylily Society which meets in Alvin, TX. The LSDS is a very active club. It hosted the AHS Region 6 Regional meeting in 2003. With other Houston Clubs, hosted the 2008 AHS National Meeting, and this year will host the AHS Region 6 Meeting again. I lived in the area and was a member of LSDS until moving north in 2012. The wife and I will be attending the Regional and look forward to seeing everyone again.

If you notice, not a bloom in sight. These photos were taken after dead-heading! What a job! But for 3 days, we dead-headed the entire garden.
