The handle issue came up in our kitchen, too. We don't have a large kitchen, the house is built in 1939 and we wanted a new kitchen but one that looked like it belonged to the rest of the house. Along one run of cabinetry we had the fridge, two DWs (one on each side of the sink) and the oven. That's alot of handles looking at you in a row, not to mention alot of stainless! We decided to integrate the fridge and DWs and get cabinet pulls to match. We have the new look of the oven and cooktop, but the kitchen doesn't feel overwhelming for the rest of the house. And no, with 18" pulls on the DWs next to the sink, never had a problem with bumping them.

Let me explain something to those of you not in the know. Appliance manufacturers do just about anything to drive down cost. In order to do that they advertise and attempt to set a new style or trend. Pure marketing BS. Two examples are stainless steel and no handles. It is more expensive to make a painted fridge than stainless fridge. With a stainless fridge the buyer has to deal with endless fingerprints (there is no such thing as fingerprint proof stainless and they scratch if you breath on them). It is more expensive to make a fridge with no handles and market it as sleek rather than market it a PITA. Appliance makers will do anything for your money and will sell you the lowest quality product they can get away with.

I have a 3rd tier cutlery rack, and the pieces are placed on their sides, each separated by slots. When we first got this dishwasher, I thought the cutlery rack would be a pain in the neck, having to gather them up from a horizontal position when putting them away. But when you are putting your soiled cutlery in the dishwasher, you can easily place them in groups of where they go in your drawers. Then it's so quick to just kind of swoop all the teaspoons up at a time and put them in your drawer, followed by the forks, etc. Now I actually find the separate rack for cutlery is my favourite thing about my dishwasher!

I still love my first Bosh Dishwasher. The 800 series with the recessed handle is so quiet, dishes come out cleaner than any dishwasher I ever owned, dishes are all dry (using Sanitize and Crystal dry) with maybe just some water in top of the mugs or in some creases on the plastic, plastic and stainless silverware are all dry and clean, love not having the heated dry so I can put plastic containers on any shelf, love the recessed handle so I can reach inside my cabinets better since I am very petite, love that the dishwasher does not stick out from the counter like my KitchenAid dishwasher did, love how easy the stainless steel is to keep clean and looking nice, love how it looks, and I love how the store I chose installed it with the plug under my sink and took away the old dishwasher without any extra charges for he plug and I did not have to hire an electrician like the big box stores said I would.
