Systemic treatment for whitefly on house plants?
Comments (1)The legal document that you should go by is the label. If there are no specific directions for indoor use, then you shouldn't use this product inside. Pesticides may react differently in a container and with the typical potting mix. Also, fume inhalation is a primary mode of pesticide exposure. To get some good information about your question, call the toll free information number that will be listed on the label. It is in the company's best interest that you use their product safely....See MoreWater treatment system for house well water
Comments (0)We did a comprehensive water test on our well water. Here are the results. Water test results: pH 6.0 TDS 202 alkalinity 28 hardness 97 iron 0.017 manganese 0.007 particulate sulfates 15.3 e, coli absent total coliform bacteria present nitrates 2.2 Radon 3920 Lead 0.02 We have 5.5 people living in the house. I have the following questions 1. What capacity and brand of water softener and neuturalizer is recommended based on above information? 2. The total coliform bacteria is present in the water. This tested water is the raw water directly from the well. This bacteria was not present three years ago from the kitchen sink faucet. Could the existing filtration system filter out the bacteria or the bacteria gets into the well in the last three years? What should we do with this? 3. The lead level is a little exceed the MCL which is 0.015. Do we need the treatment? 4. Do we need radon mitigation? Someone told me that if we install the radon mitigation, we don't need the acid neutralizer anymore. is this true? Thanks for your input!...See MoreRight water treatment system for well water?
Comments (5)Alice, I also have a well. I notice you have been quite gracious with your time and expertise on this site. I have tried to research the best I can, but I am not a handy person. I am considering either a Kinetico or Aqua Ox system. I don't understand all the ins and outs of each just some of the basics. My water has compensated iron of 9 grains - manganese and iron, no bacteria, 7 for PH, and a TDS of 243, no nitrates, no tannins. We use three bathrooms, 5 people. I know this is far from a complete picture, but would you favor one of these systems over the other and why? I have come to the end of my understanding and would so appreciate your insight. Thank you so very much. Desiree...See MoreNeed advice on getting new well water treatment system . . .
Comments (7)We've always just had the company test it that's providing the softener - last one we bought was from a local plumber. Not cheap but we're not do-it-yourselfers and I want someone reputable to call if I have any problems. I have occasionally had an independent well water analysis to check for water safety - not hardness. There's never been any issue other than iron, hardness, etc. In my experience if you have a lot of iron you need a better softener - not a cheap one from the local big box store. ETA: we have always used our softened water for cooking and drinking though I understand it does have some residual sodium from softening - my understanding the harder the water, the more sodium. That is of course unless you use potassium salt instead of regular salt. Our softener at home doesn't soften the cold water in the kitchen - the one at our lake place does. In our previous homes we had high iron content and all the water was softened. In all cases water quality for drinking has been great....See Moreingrid_vc so. CA zone 9
