Window muntins, or no muntins?
Comments (12)@cpartist - Wow, I think we agree on something... I don't think my architect had muntins in mind, because I did not see them on any of his exterior elevations. I feel like the muntins will definitely tip the house towards the prairie style, which I think would cause us to choose a more earthy/older feel for the interior decorating and finishes. Going without the muntins would instead tip the house towards modern, and have a newer, brighter, more sterile feeling interior. My wife and I are the outdoorsy type, we like camping, hiking, and other outdoor activities. We still are drawn to the clean modern look though......See MoreVinyl windows. SDL grids, or no grids?
Comments (19)As far as pricing, think about it this way: GBG's are one "set" of grids between the glass. SDL's have the same thing, in addition to two more sets (one interior and one exterior). These are arbitrary numbers, but if GBG is $100 per window, the SDL's would therefore be something like $300 +/-. This isn't an exact science as GBG's may be priced "per window" and SDL's "per lite", but it should be in that general vicinity in terms of the ratio. Yes, it should be relatively easy for a window company to give you at least a reaosnable idea of where they would land on both....See MoreANDERSEN WINDOWS: SDL vs. FDL / Woodwright or Tilt-Wash
Comments (7)Yes! I deleted the other post... I was adding photos, I thought when I as editing, the post was paused. But yes, I answered your questions above... ^^ The double-hung windows in question are alone in one room, so they won't be visually near others. But, I liked the idea of consistency... The more I've read, the more I've seen folks upset with the jamb liners that come with these windows. Seems I should go with the woodwright to have a wood-painted-white interior jamb liner and live with the grey liner/sandtone exterior. As it's on the second floor, will not be seen much (I hope). What to do about the hardware, though? And the FDL/SDL question remains... Thanks!...See MoreIs it a bad idea to have some windows with muntins and some without?
Comments (18)I have seen the term grids used by window companies themselves - just because there is a technical name for them it doesn't mean there aren't other laymans terms that aren't valid to use as well. Case in point, Pella Windows themselves refer to them as grids in this article. https://www.pellabranch.com/windows-doors/windows/window-grid-styles/...See Morenchamp
