Yeah i know, i'm not growing it for fruits... Mostly for the fun of getting it from seed etc... Just experimenting ;) Probably on the wrong board tought... For the avocado leaves... It doesn't get that much sun ( only one light for it )... Idk, i'll continue experimenting with it and try to find out what is wrong. The other one have perfect leaves, only 2 full grown, about 5 growing at the top :) just need to pinch in again cuz it doesnt look like it wants to form branches

Well, I think it is solved. Saw some nice pepper seedlings at the nursery that looked a whole lot better than mine after 3 weeks so decided to just pull them out. Sure enough, they came out easily and the peat pot had only a couple thin roots that made it out, everything else was balled up inside. So replaced them with new peppers, but decided to try and see if I could save these as well. Peeled off the peat pot from each- was surprisingly not that interwoven with roots- and replanted. Probably a lot for some pretty sick peppers to endure but will see what happens. Thanks for the suggestions!

Hi, thanks for your advice!! I have actually put it in a bigger container when I was taking a look at the roots, the pictures I posted were from before that. The old container was a bit narrower and higher, now it is in a bigger one that is not as high. The roots didn't seem crowded though, there was still plenty of space left. Here is a picture of the roots, and a picture of the plant in its new container: (too much light so the leaves look super bright green. It has two 'good' leaves left now, the two at the top. The rest has brown spots/edges) I am trying to keep the soil moist now, without overwatering it. The brown spots are getting bigger though. But I also see some tiny buds of new growth so I hope at some point there will be new leaves and my plant will survive. And I hope I didn't give it too much shock by disturbing the roots.. I was only halfway through all the awesome avocado plant info on this website and didn't know yet that the roots are so sensitive. Do you think it is a good idea to use fertilizer at this point? Or should I wait a bit longer? Here is a picture of one of the leaves, I have been looking into deficiencies but none seem to match exactly.

I'd agree if for no other reason than the cotyledons alone aren't capable of photosyn, only the true leaves. But many times that distinction isn't included in the advice. Shoot I have lost trays of young seedlings sitting in the greenhouse from sunburn, much less outside. What I take issue with is the broad statements made on so many blogs. Utube and even sometimes here, that putting your seedling out in full sun is no problem - no guidelines, no qualifications, no age guidelines, no distinction between full sun in AZ vs. full sun in MN, etc. Newbies read those claims and next thing you know they have a tray full of sun and wind burned plants or dead ones and want to know what happened to them. There is a thread running on this right now over on Vegetable Gardening with pics of young seedlings that were put outside early on and the damage that happened. So the safest approach is to not do it unless you are experienced and really know what you are doing and if you are going to do it be prepared to possibly lose some of your seedlings. If you have 200 of them it is no big deal but if you only started 10-12 plants it can literally wipe you out. But people get impatient and they don't want to bother with proper hardening off procedures. Their choice but they have to pay the price. Dave
