I will be removing Avast from my laptop windows 7 computer next month and I want to make sure I get everything removed before installing another antivirus program. Thank you all for your help.
Sometimes it's not possible to uninstall Avast the standard way - using the ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS in control panel. In this case, you can use our uninstallation utility avastclear.
If you installed Avast in a different folder than the default, browse for it. (Note: Be careful! The content of any folder you choose will be deleted!)
Add/Remove does not always remove all and even a small file left over sometimes will not allow your new AV to function properly. Do as DA & azinoh state above.
If you have CCleaner installed on your system run the registry utility. It would not be unusual to find some orphan entries reported. To remove them, or anything else, using CC is your decision. If you decide to be sure to utilize the offered back up.
