I would reset Chrome first and see how that does.

And if zep's suggestion doesn't fix this, go into the Control Panel, uninstall Chrome, and then download and reinstall it.

Joe, I have reset Chrome, and that seems to have fixed the problem. If it happens again, I'll then reinstall Chrome as kudzu9 suggested. Hoping this is the end of the problem.

Guess I was wrong. I just tried to open Chrome from the icon in my taskbar and before it could open, I got the message that it would shut down. So I suppose I'll remove it entirely and reinstall. I will use Revo to uninstall to make sure I've gotten every bit of it. Surely hate to do this, but I've tried a number of other things that did not work, and this is my last resort.

Still having the problem. I installed the 64bit version rather than the 32bit. Does this make a difference? My comp is Windows 7 - 64bit.

Install the regular version and we can take it from there.

In the uninstall list, programs an features;

Click Uninstall from the confirmation dialog. Delete your user profile information, like your browser preferences, bookmarks, and history, by selecting the "Also delete your browsing data" checkbox.

If you have Bookmarks that you want to save, you want to do that first.

Okay, I removed the version I had installed (64bit) and installed the regular 32bit version. I also deleted history, etc. as you suggested. I have no extensions active at this point, and only have a start page designated. I'll try it bare-boned like this tonight and see how it goes. Afterwards, I guess I'll slowly add back bookmarks that I use regularly as I needed to really clean that out anyway, and if I make any changes at all, I'll make only one at a time, letting some time elapse before making any other changes. Surely hope this does the job.

So Chrome is the only issue you have been experiencing correct ? Otherwise the computer is running ok with out pop up advertizements etc

Yes, I try to keep my computer lean and clean. No pop-ups or anything of the sort.

I rarely use Google Chrome and even more rarely Windows so this may or may not help.

Software that crashes Google Chrome

If I read it correctly, Google Chrome has some sort of built-in diagnostics to help a person determine why it crashed. Like I say, I don't use it, so can't say how useful it is but it's quick and easy to check.

So far, so good. I have added two extensions, and no problem with either. I'll continue adding back one at a time with some time in between. If I should experience any more crashing, I would have to assume the last extension added was the cause and would remove permanently.
