Browser instability in Linux Mint

Just wanted to ask a couple questions of beng12 without boring others.

Mostly, I'm just curious. So...

@beng12:

A couple questions if it's okay:

1) Have you tried starting Firefox from a terminal to see what if any errors/warnings/clues are shown?

2) Any clue given by Firefox? ( about:crashes ) I see I had a crash report that I had forgotten about: https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/fe035c10-09c5-41cb-afc9-cdccd2150902 (Although the report is mostly beyond my ability, I'm still able see that the crash was likely caused by the VLC plugin)

3) Any common activity when the browser crashes? Watching video? Playing Flash games? Lots of tabs open?

4) Have you considered trying a different desktop environment to see if the issue is specific to Cinnamon?

For example, Mate.

.

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install mint-meta-mate

.

Then log out, select a Mate session, and see if the stability issue goes away.

I've had no stability issues with Mate, although that wasn't why I choose it over Cinnamon. (audio previews was)
