Is there such a thing as having too many browsers?

I use Chrome all the time, but also have FireFox as a backup. Of course IE, as well, but I never use it.

I've been having problems with a particular website, needed for work. It doesn't advance to the next page, for one. It sticks on Chrome, FF, and IE. So I downloaded Opera just for kicks. Same thing. Everything is working right and up-to-date etc etc, it's just this particular website, software thing.

Anyway, does having too many browsers cause issues, even if they're not all being used?

No, not at all.

Having more than a few programs of any kind active at the same time, or having too many windows of the same browser open at the same time, could slow your PC performance-wise, but there's no damage risk. Unless, if you have it REALLY overloaded, a PC can shut down or programs can crash and any unsaved work could be lost. If you see your hard drive light constantly on and the PC reacting sluggishly, you probably need to lighten the load.

If you want to have many webpages "on standby" to be accessible quickly, using tabs instead of windows is more memory efficient. It's also easier and faster to flip between tabs than between separate windows

I agree with Snidely, the number of browsers installed is probably not the issue.

Does the website require java or if you are on a Windows computer, is Internet Explorer showing the "internet" security zone as in Protected Mode? Unless you configure every browser to allow actions that some websites require to function, they will all look to the security settings of IE.

IE 11 in it's default state is very secure :-) which is quite useful, unless you like to actually browse the internet.

It is my understanding that excessive blooming only *really* taxes the plant when they are first tranplanted. While new transplants are trying to establish a root system and pump out flowers at the same time, that is when root establishment might be compromised. It sounds like yours has been in the ground since last year so it shoudl be fairly well established. Enjoy those gorgeous flowers! We just moved in to a new house in the late fall and I planted 20+ Es and FE&E this spring. They are flowering like mad! (Probably more on the ES than the FE&E, but time will tell.) I thought about pinching back some of the flowers, but they are just too heavenly. I'm hoping that the "water infrequently but deeply" mantra will help get the roots nice and happy despite all the energy the plants are putting in to the blooms. :)

Rats. Seams just sound so unattractive. I'm trying to find some photos online of what the seams look like. But, although I can find directions for making a seamed comforter cover, no one is posting a closeup of what the seam looks like. Rats, rats, rats. DIY is always treacherous if you've never done it. I thought I was so careful about measuring and planning. It turned out that I forgot about the drawer front. I had planned for an acrylic sweater drawer (for bread) and a small toaster oven on top of it for the counter height drawer. I didn't take into account that a drawer front would block everything. I figured out the problem yesterday when I was measuring for the drawer fronts. SIGH. It should have been a pulled out shelf. So now I have to take it out, hack an IKEA shelf and make it into a pull out shelf. The other option is to forget the idea about putting the toaster there and ignore the plugs I had installed just for the appliances inside the pantry.

Yes there can be too many windows. Too many windows can interfere with upper cabinets. Too large of a window can even preclude placement of lower cabinets. Windows preclude privacy day and night - I hate being on display to neighbors or fisherman on the lake. Glare and/or heat buildup from windows can also be a royal pain. When I am in my kitchen, I'm working. I am not gazing out the window at the vistas. If I want a view, I can take 5 steps over to the dining room and look out the 7' wide window at the lake. When I had a 5' X 5' window in my kitchen, a skylight, and a patio door to boot -- I constantly had them covered just to be able to work in my kitchen due to heat in summer, privacy at night, and glare year round. I had an entire wasted wall where I could have no storage due to windows. I have a small home, so kitchen space is at a premium. Now I have a small window to check on the weather, and 3 times the counter and storage space. You just have to ask yourself who will be using the space and how much external light you want/need.

I don't have more than one browser open at a time......I use tabs. We were at my BIL so he could take a look at the website software issue on my computer. He likes having multiple monitors to have different sites open at once. One is a tv screen to watch a tv show different than his wife when necessary. Wow, I'll stick to my tabs LOL.

This issue seems to be strictly with the website program. I wrote to the company who designed the website and they denied knowing what I was talking about, saying that they don't design anything describing what I did, yet when I clicked on their name at the bottom of the page, it goes to their company website with one phone number and an email program. This has to to with being able to do my job, and the way that it is currently running, I'm not able to do it efficiently and in a timely manner.

Does this happen when you use a different PC? With every other PC you've tried?

I'd tell your boss about the problem.

The number of browsers you have stored on your hard drive most likely is not an issue. However, if you attempt to open too many browsers at the same time, that may become an issue if you if you do not have enough RAM to support everything. I have 2 browsers, IE and Firefox, and I tend to use only one at a time.

Give this a try. In the browser in which you have the page problem, clean out the cache, temporary files, etc. Sometimes after an update, there may be some old stuff in these files that are incompatible with the new version. Also, if a web site had an update, there may junk left in the temporary files on your computer that gives trouble.

For example, I had a problem suddenly appear on a web site where my medical appointments were kept. I would attempt to log in and instantly, it would return me to the login page with the message, "Your session has times out. Please log in." I contacted the technical help person and got nowhere. The problem was cured when my son, an IT guy, suggested that I clear out all the temporary files and cookies.

I'll share this story in case it ever happens to you or someone else:

This past week I did a Windows 7 update (one of those routine updates requested by Microsoft), and when it was finished Chrome couldn't load pages for me. I learned that if I'd turned down the automatic offer to reload all my tabs, Chrome probably would have been fine. But I clicked "Restore," and then Chrome failed.

I looked up the problem, and found lots of people asking about it on tech sites. Must be a common issue. I attempted several of their solutions, but couldn't figure out how to do them. Then I cam upon this easy one, and it worked!

After my computer does a window's update, chrome almost never works. I can't get into settings or anything, nor can I load any web pages. I found a simple fix. Do a control-alt-delete and go into task manager. Close all chrome programs in all the tabs. Once you close all the processes, reopen chrome. It loads for me.

Also, be careful NOT to restore previous tabs. Ignore the Ã¢ÂÂrestoreÃ¢ÂÂ request, and just start from scratch.
