Vanity lights -- sconces or over the mirror lighting
Comments (4)Sconce lighting is IDEAL as long as it is at face level. You want the light to reflect evenly on your face if at all possible. So, lights on either side of the mirror, or, mounted directly over the mirror are ideal as long as they are at eye level. Bathroom bar lighting is unflattering and doesn't provide an accurate lighting for your face. Hope that makes sense. I'm not in anyway promoting RH sconces, this is just meant to give you an idea of the ideal type of sconce for the bathroom. Comments (14)In our last house the powder room had about the same sqare feet as yours does, just different dimensions. We had three halogen lights above the mirror and that was plenty of light for everyday use. I don't remember the actual bulb we used as we haven't lived there for almost a year. Just look for sconces that allow a brighter bulb or that use two bulbs in each sconce. I would use the lumen formula davidtay posted above. That will help you decide if the sconces you like will be bright enough. We did have a bathroom fan with a light installed above the toilet. That helped for when I wanted to clean the bathroom, or needed a brighter light for removing slivers, etc. as the bathroom was where we kept our first aid kit, but we could have gotten along fine without it as the light from the vanity fixture was enough for the room....See MoreLong delay when light switch turned on - vanity lights from remodel
Comments (9)Thanks for the help guys. I've done some experimenting, and now I am sure you are correct that there is nothing wrong with the wiring. What I realized is that the G24q-2 bulbs are attached to a self-ballasted adapter, which is then plugged in to a GU24 base. I purchased GU24 LED bulbs, and while the bulb is too big to really fit in the sconce, I was able to plug it in to test out the light. The new GU24 bulb has no delay at all once it is plugged in directly without the self-ballasted adapter! Now I just need to figure out a bulb solution that will fit in the fixture. I was thinking of trying a GU24 to E26 adapter, and then an LED Bright Stik....See More2 LED lighted mirrors over a 72" vanity. Do I need 3 sconces?
Comments (1)I think you'll want to buy two mirrors and three sconces. The balance will work out much better being able to have one above each sink. Furthermore, I would propose getting three lights as that will probably help with ensuring you have more evenly spread lighting to work with in the mirrors. I realize this bathroom vanity is longer but it does have the two mirrors and three lights. Definitely our preference when building....See Morehappyallison
