If she doesn't have much on her computer in the way of large programs, something is weird here. How long have you had this computer and what is it used for? There is a cheap ($8) utility, called DiskPie Pro that will help you figure out, manage, and cleanup whatever is on the disk that may not be necessary. It's probably just an accumulation of innocent things and programs, but there is also a chance that her computer has been compromised by hackers who are using her computer to store their stuff. It might sound far-fetched, but it's increasingly common, especially if you don't have an effective firewall in place. These things are sometimes called "botnets" and it's estimated that about 5 million computers have been infected. I'll add a second post below with a link to a story on this. I should have mentioned that before trying to defrag I did empty my recycle bin, ran Ccleaner, and ran Error check. I did not reboot after doing these however. My computer guy put TreeSize on my computer which I just opened and can see that 31,000 MB is my iTunes Library. I have very little music there but lots of voice memos, downloaded radio programs, podcasts etc. Most of the files in iTunes are Wave Audio Files which I remember being told are large files. I was told by a tech guy at the Apple store to change my files from Wave Files to AAC files and they would take less space on my iPod. I came home and tried to do that but it didn't work and I haven't taken the time to figure out why. I assume if I can change these files to AAC files (or some other type of compressed format?) they won't take up as much space on my hard drive. I love my iPod and being able to tape radio and listen to it while gardening or walking. I know my library will always be large so I need to figure out how to make the files smaller or get a larger hard drive. Thanks again for your help!! Ginny

Just poking around in File Manager and the only icon that responds to right/click=properties is "computer". It appears MS has reduced the right click for properties as a use for all tool. I can't figure why. Slight diversion, I have started using my laptop computers as a laptop, not as desk top with remote keyboard and display. I now find that when typing, such as now, the display will suddenly transfer to another site/display. Or, the (just now it happened) I will suddenly find the typing has either stopped, or transfered to some other location on the message field. What's up, am I touching the touch pad with my hands, which are poised just above the pad? Makes me wonder if I can turn the touch pad off, and use a wireless mouse and not have trouble with interrupts springing up while I type.
