Thanks for the comments. I will post another pic when the flowers open up. There are ants EVERYWHERE here, so I'm sure they've already started a lottery to see who gets to visit the flowers first. I wonder if it would be necessary to hand-pollinate since it's outside? Aren't those ants good for anything? LOL! Getting a few seeds would be way cool! mrmothernature, these plants are absolutely neglected, small sip of water about once a month while inside, grow so slowly they only get repotted every few years. I admit once they cracked the plastic pot open before I got around to doing it. I'm not a subscriber to the "does better when it's rootbound" thing for any plant, but this plant was given to me that way, repotted very infrequently, and has had no problems. I think I will give one the larger pot and "new dirt" I think they need and leave one alone. Until a few years ago it was all "one plant" so that should be a good experiment to compare the results.

I have at least 250 different species, I have never seen one that looks like that, it is beautiful, and interesting, I wonder what Hermine would say about this one, the leaf stem is very different and I don't believe that S. concinna grows that large or that dark green or perhaps I am usiing the wrong soil.?? I would be very interested what she has to say about this plant. Thanks for posting the picture. By the way 'Lillian True' is that dark green with gold edges, but narrow like trifasiata? or thysiflora . Ask Hermine Stover about this one as welll she discovered the plant. Norma

I split up two braids this year, one had pups coming up and the other had absolutely nothing, barely even a root. I'm waiting for the one with all the pups to start back with growth, nice to know what they're going to look like in the near future :) congrats on your save. I like being able to "rescue" plants from what the marketers think will sell, even if it's glued on rocks or glued on "flowers". Nice job!
