Glad your chickens are safe! I hope the weather in the Midwest will start improving before we will return from Maui at dawn March 13. It's blowing a gale out here -- third day running -- but it's in the mid-seventies with sun. I've been putting in phone time, setting up a small rental car for three months next winter. Unbelievable quotes, ranging from $8168 (highest) to around $3800 (most) to the $2111 that I booked, which is slightly less than we are paying this year. I'd look into buying a beater if I had a place to store it!

It's finally starting to show signs of some melting here in OH, with highs in mid to upper 30s. I did the finish up work on my federal and state taxes today. Also did a little cooking, not much.

Mid-40's in central Ohio. Hand washed both cars, cleaned the glass and vacuumed the interior. FINALLY.

A little of this and a little of that!..Sun is shining, and warming up my living room. Feels so good after the low temps we've had.

It is actually hot here in southern California. If this heat wave moves east, there will be big melts and lots of flooding.

I'm glad you noticed the possum. The woman who shares eggs with us lost one of her 'girls' to a red tailed hawk a couple of weeks ago. They are as much pets as anything else and she lets them loose in her yard, hadn't realized a hawk was around. I'm glad it wasn't the little Frizzel she calls Bella, she would have been more upset.

I'm 'puttering' today. I started a box of a few things for Goodwill. Vacuumed my office but I need to clean woodwork, baseboards and things in here. Answered some mail and cleaned and refilled my hummingbird feeders, the one in back that usually is about half full on the day I clean them was almost empty. I took the area carpet that is in the doorway from the garage to my office outside and scrubbed it with a brush and spic n span, rinsed with the hose and hung it to dry. It was that or replace it, not vacuuming clean any more. It's not there for looks, it really does catch a lot of dirt from peoples feet. It's sunny and 60F, we'll see if it dries, about 3x4' and with a stiff backing so it can't go into my washer and dryer.

I'm headed back outside now to do some weeding. I don't know why the weather has been so nice this early in the year but I'm trying to take advantage of it.

Did a nice 24 mile ride with a girl friend today, and tomorrow my daughter and grand dog are coming over.

The next two weeks, no real plans yet, but I am on Spring Break... oh, yes, plans for the end of the break, my grand daughter is doing a child size TRI, and I will be there to watch and coax her on. ;)

We have a chinook happening here, Finally. Thermometer has not dropped below freezing for three days now! Water is running everywhere. We had to move the cows into the "heifer" pasture to keep them from laying on the irrigation dikes, rolling onto their backs in the regular pasture. When they are this far along with calf, if they get on their backs they can't get backup and they suffocate. The heifer pasture is level land, but the water is standing in it, so lots of bedding is going down for them at night.

Made a big pot of pasta sauce for supper, and spring cleaned our bedroom. Have the windows open wide. Love it when I can get fresh air flowing through the house.

We have water standing everywhere right now. Going to be really mucky tomorrow, when we do chores.

lots of melting finally, in Detroit...we did our am trip to Costco, but the warmer temps must have brought out the crowds...by the time we left the lot was about 2/3 full! put the few items away and hit the washer...I've been very careful about when I do laundry as not to stress too cold lines ect...as it was had my deep sink (machine empties into it) overflow...a dryer sheet got in it somehow...so we're set for the rest of the week...

Today I did some programming consulting work, fought off a migraine, made a large batch of gumbo for a Mardi Gras party, and went to the party. Tomorrow we might go to see the son of a friend of ours who is in town to play a polo match.

I just got home from seeing Diana Krall in concert. She was wonderful! I've been a fan for years.

Tomorrow it's back to stacking firewood and doing inside chores, but that's okay.

I drove home the long way tonight to avoid the mountain because it's snowing lightly. The slipperiest part was the dirt road I live on: ice covered with the new snow.

Yesterday my dh and I went to see the "Marigold Hotel" movie--we rarely like the same thing in movies. I was fairly disappointed, but I won't say more than that. Today I hope to get out in the garden and weed a bit; I had to water yesterday.

Very warm here, high 70's. Wish some of you could come sit in the sun on the patio with me. Those warm rays would feel so good to you.

I got the rest of my outdoor Xmas decorations down & put away!! Made a list of the tools & supplies I'll need for spring cleaning. Then headed to the store. Shopped..now I'm home sitting on my butt recovering!
