I don't do spring cleaning as such, but rather when I can't stand it anymore or when the spirit moves me. We do the windows in the spring, but other than that, I do it as needed.

I try and do it twice a year. All the under cleaning lol. I reorganize my placr. Clean closets drawers etc. Protect the perimeter from insects. Clean all yhe major appliances etc. Not a job I like but need done.

Here's how I clean. Every day I get myself ready first, shower, hair wash and maybe a little make up and clean clothes. Then I start at the back of the house and do a basic clean and tidy up. If I started at the fronth of the house I would never do the back :) Then I do one extra job that won't need doing again for a while. This extra job can be small, like cleaning ceiling fans or large like scrubbing grout. I do a thorough cleaning on Friday like vacuuming answer dusting and floor washing. By keeping up this way I don't have a real Spring cleaning job to do. Outside windows will be one of those extra jobs when the weather gets nice, if it ever does.

I don't think I've ever done Spring cleaning. I clean my house when it's dirty. Or when I get tired of looking at the mess. ;)

My sister is another one who doesn't "spring clean". Instead she cleans a little every day. And, believe me,it works, because her house always looks clean and ready for company. I asked how much time she spends, she said "Maybe 45 minutes a day."

I was raised under the spring cleaning mode, too, and I like it. Even though I clean a little every day and keep a ready-for-company home, the deep cleaning gets planned for.

The hands and knees, step ladder, boxes to donate, emptying the garage kind of chores. We're going to tackle it in a few weeks, when it's warmer. No makeup required, lol.

We spend 30 minutes each day to pick up, put away, dust, vacuum, mop or whatever needs done. When your 3 grandchildren live 3 minutes away, you can't afford to delay cleaning until spring. Toddlers touch everything. We also have a Himalayan cat and he leaves hair EVERYWHERE.

Some months ago I purchased a rolling trolley and outfitted it with a broom, dustpan, 2 kinds of mop (flat and string) floor cleaner stuff, windex, furniture spray, microfiber dust cloths. So whenever the spirit moves me I get the trolley out and clean. Having everything in one place is a real boon, too often the process of going to get an item I needed to clean with, sidetracked me and stopped the cleaning process.

Started in February, on a beautifully warm day, and did the windows, inside and out, on the east side of the house. I have also gotten the kitchen and living room done, walls washed, curtains washed, upholstery vacumned and steamed, cupboards, pantry and hall closets done. When I get do our bedroom, I will take all the drapes into the drycleaner. That will happen in the next week or so, now that the weather is gorgeous again. It has to be nice enough out so I can open all the windows, get some fresh air in, when I spring clean.

As to how I do it, well I start at the top and work my way to the floor. Vacumn the ceilings, wash light fixtures, walls and windows, wash all fabrics, steam all upholstery and vacumn/steam the rugs, wash and polish all nicknacks and furniture. Nothing smells as good as fresh air, fresh linens, and wax!

I don't do spring cleaning like most people. I do special jobs in the spring and fall, but not the whole house. I mainly clean as I go. Today my floors are going to be clean...........by my maid. For $45. she cleans all my floors and shakes my rugs. A little luxury I treat myself to, I hate vacuuming.

I have two closets down already and this weekend is looking good for moving appliances and scrubbing behind them.

I clean everyday all day it seems, I do windows as needed and deep cleaning as needed. As far as spring cleaning goes, I hit the shed, carport etc.

My window blinds will get special treatment very soon.

Oh, trust me I know what Spring Cleaning entails. If my curtains need cleaning, I clean them. I don't wait until Spring to do that. I move my furniture at least once a month to make sure all the fluff gets picked up. If I see dirty walls, I clean them right away. I don't wait until Spring. :)

I don't have a formal ritual. After Christmas when everyone else goes back to school and work, I start the clean-up. You can't eat off the floors here, but at least I'm usually not totally embarrassed when the police or fire department show up. Lol!

Umm, no comment! I did not inherit a love of cleaning unfortunately! Company is my motivator.

As soon as I can open the windows to let fresh air in, just as my Mom & Grandma did. Here in Maine, that could be anywhere from mid April to mid May.

I once had a neighbor who was a convert to Judaism. She 'kept Kosher' insofar as rigorous cleaning Spring and Fall. (No separate kitchens or dishes.) She and her cleaning lady would tear the house apart, working 9 - 5 for a week or more in a 2500 sq ft house. Every surface was washed. Anything that could be moved was pulled out. Wall and ceiling fixtures were removed and washed. Books were individually wiped down. It was *thorough*!

I deliberately have no curtains or drapes to hold dust and dirt. Hardwood and tile throughout the house are easy to keep up on a routine basis. Heavy wood casings and Roman shades are vacuumed regularly with my powerful central vacuum. Between-the-glass shades don't get dirty. Wool area rugs go out to be washed as needed in the fall after the windows and doors are closed for the season.

I hire a pair of cleaners once a year ($400 for a full day; 2900 sq ft house). They wash floors and baseboards, kitchen cabinets -- high and low places that I can't do anymore. We have landscapers, so our garage has only a few tools; that's DH's job to keep neat. DH washes the outsides of our many windows and french doors a couple times a year. A window washer comes in late spring to do the small-pane windows in and out -- and the rest in, out, and in between. He cleans up the double height screened porch and its' skylights. Our house is single-story with 9-foot ceilings, one step up to the front door, but we have some higher ceilings and tall arched windows on the north side.

The 8-foot attic...uh-uh, not a lot there, and cleaning that will be a one-timer --by someone else! Our basement is unfinished and home only to the water heater, furnaces, etc. DH washes down the floor with a hose once in a while.

Our temps are warming up and in a few days I will be able to wash my windows. They are easy to wash inside and out because they fold down. Looking forward to being able to air out the house and wash curtains.
