This is kind of the ultimate beachy craftsman house to me and (a lot of people in the blogosphere apparently): Here's another example with more privacy on the sidelights. You could easily envision this with a transom above: This appears to be the same door as the one in the beachy/craftsman house above but without the transom and sidelights. I think you could alter the surrounding treatments in many ways: Here is a variation on a traditional door that contains a mail slot. It has the transom above. But you could add sidelights to it: A traditional door with a mail slot with a transom. I can imagine it with sidelights: An inside view but this looks nice: You could do something like this where the mail slot will fit nicely down low in between the squares: I really do like the top option the best (though the slot would just be inserted on the door and not between anything I suppose) and think with divided lights it would work great too. I'm thinking about a similar door for our home. You could do any of the doors in a deep charcoal gray, black or stained...

I hope the walkway planned is at least 4’ wide. With a white house, I think you could really play with a front door color. You need a landscaping plan and the plants can echo the door color.

As others have said, it doesn't fit the style of the house. And also, I agree 100% with what Mrs S and Cindy R said about the lack of privacy. I have a solid front door with two very narrow sidelites on either side. Every person who rings the bell/knocks on the door is peering through those little sidelites, and there have even been some who do not ring the doorbell or have any delivery or anything, but come up and peer in. The wonders of doorbell cameras - you'd be surprised at the activity at front doors that you had no idea about. I put up window treatments on those sidelites. Had to. I cannot imagine an entire naked front door like what is pictured.

I know it’s hard to see this well, but just showing a traditional wood door with panels and windows. I think you could use any traditional or mid-century style. I wouldn’t do Craftsman. These are all dark gray or black, if you keep your shutters as is: I like this modern style ... Traditional ... Lovely leaded glass ... This is a nice-looking transitional style ... The original picture shows it with black. Good looking door. This would look amazing with a matching garage door and removing shutters: This one is somewhat Craftsman-influenced, but you see they added other details to integrate it: If you’re thinking of painting the shutters, that of course will provide other color options, but I’d still stick with trad or mod regardless.
