How do you define 'Dated'?
Comments (28)The home shows call fixtures dated because fixture manufacturers sponsor the home shows and want you to buy more of their product. If something feels dated 10 years after being the best thing since sliced bread then you have fallen for the advertising industry's brainwashing. Almost everything is "dated" if you are familiar enough with it to estimate when it was manufactured. I think "dated" comes more from decorating that was done in response to fads than it does with regards to actual dates or eras. If everyone is doing granite and stainless steel because it is "in", then in 20 years granite and stainless steel is going to be looked at as dated because it is everywhere, reminds folks of the '00's, and they want the next newest and best thing. Classic elements are always a better choice than what is currently "in" and this is exactly why. It is entirely possible IMO to decorate a home that won't be dated in 20 years but you won't do it by following the advice of home shows and trend magazines. You do it by choosing classic timeless pieces to begin with and not just getting what everyone else thinks is cool or the latest greatest new thing....See MoreAt what age is a home dated?
Comments (73)I don't know whether patty_cakes still reads here, I hope she does, and finds comments helpful, since it's her thread. but I stopped finding this discussion constructive some time ago-I feel we're going in circles, and everybody's answering his own thoughts on the matter, without really listening to what others have to say. I, personally, am tired..and feel I'd rather excuse myself, for the time being. I'd like to distract myself since my MIL felt very sick yesterday and is in the hospital, and continue to talk to you guys, since whenever we disagree I still like talking to you-but for now I feel it's hard for me, and not sure how helpful it is to Patty. One thing to add..since I'm sad and worried anyway..I'm old enough to know that the moment you're attached to something, you love somebody-you're bound to have heartache..you're bound to get devastated at times..you care-you'll be hurt. You have-you risk loosing. Yet I'd still rather fall in love, become attached, and take all the hell that comes with that. That was the deal. And this is the package. As for the property per se..I don't need to own property. Don't feel this need, in the first place. I simply come from other society. As much as I hate it-I'm its product, to a certain degree. So if my family decides it makes sense to own-yes, I'd much rather fall in love, because otherwise I don't understand why to go through this hassle at all. Well I guess that's partially why it makes it so interesting to discuss these things-we're different. Yet similar. Yet different. Yet similar. And so it goes, like in my nickname. Never ends. homeshef59 i do like knowing my triggers. It is with much interest I figured them out You know when I love homes more? Or actually anything? When they remind me of people and animals..:) what about you?.. But I'm talking too much already, while I said I wouldn't. So. I'm off to smoke. I hope you have a great day, and Patty, I wish you luck..it will be fine. If the question was "Did I elevate my place?" the answer is "Yes, you did"....See MoreGrrrrr....HATE ExpressScripts!
Comments (18)Express Scripts is a prescription benefit processing company for employers. They do mail order for cost containment purposes. My employer uses Express Scripts and offers the mail order approach as an option (and encourages use by reducing co-payments). I choose to get my stuff from a retail pharmacy (one of the national chains) and the cost difference to me is just one extra month's co-pay for each item per quarter (three if using a retail pharmacy, two if using the mail order). The company behind the scenes doing the administration could be any one of the several in this business because it's mostly invisible to me and other covered individuals. Ultimately, the benefits, costs, formularies, etc., are what the employer chooses to provide and Express Scripts is just there to do the administration and processing. I'm sorry if the situation you're in leads to periodic problems. Other than the bureaucracy that you find in any insurance or benefit providing organization, and which is part of the cost control the ultimate payer is looking for, I haven't experienced them being any worse than others. Further to what mdln said, there are other companies in addition to Costco who provide some drugs in generic form at pretty low cost. If that applies to you, you might also look into seeing what Walmart or Walgreens could provide....See MoreDate Checking Posts
Comments (42)I thought it was just a question about why they pop up at times out of the blue and that is how I answered. I did not see any negative meaning in the original post. But it did start to go south with some of the comments. In the one where someone said they may be long gone. I do believe they meant it as the person may not be with us any longer. I have seen replies from some of our friends that have passed away on some of the old posts and it freaks me out for a moment till I look at the date. I have brought some old ones up from time to time when I run across one in a search that was a good memory or a fun time. I certainly don't have a problem with them either, just the spammers. I flagged for the first time 3 this morning that were brand new, with links in them and nothing else. Another no name Hu spammer. Life is short Be happy!...See MoreUser
