Best Appliance Customer Service?
Comments (11)Gary - does Maytag have their own research and design team? How about management team? Do they have their own factories where they only produce Maytag appliances ? Nope they pretty much cease to exist. The few factories that are still open are an old Amana plant from that acquisition and that scion of cooking Magic Chef ! Maytag 's only value is in its name. Now , lets look at Gaggenau. While they are under they Bosch ownership umbrella , they have their own mgmt. team, in Gaggenau Germany. Their own factories where they produce Gaggenau appliances, and more importantly, a capable R&D dept. that comes up with things like full surface induction tops, side hinged ovens, pop up column vents, side hinged ovens. Some of that is shared across Bosch's other brands, like the induction, and some is not - like the ventilator. I'll let you slide on this one since your a techie instead of a big picture management guy. But, how bout gettin a clue before you start looking for interesting things next time. Lots of parts are shared in the industry, and not just within corp. entities. There are only a few fridge compressors on the market. Does that make Kitchen Aid a marketing arm of Sub Zero because the compressor will fit both ? How about the light bulb that fits your Electrolux and a thermador too? What about the door hinges that Bosch and Tdor and Gaggenau use on their fridges? Miele has the same thing too. That's a whole separate discussion because of the shared factory, but by your logic it'd make them just a " marketing arm" because the same part is shared. Why don't you offer some reasons why one should buy Maytag instead of trying to pick a scrap with me and crapping on some other brand to deflect away from what the OP asked. And speaking of interesting and tellin it like it is, why didn't you include your beloved Electrolux on your list of poor service companies and those that don't do their own service? Inquiring minds find a THAT interesting....See Morebest 30 inch single convection wall oven
Comments (7)I have the regular Electrolux single 30 inch oven and I love it. I lived through buying $10,000 in appliances (range and oven) and both were lemons, so I was very gun shy. The good thing is with Electrolux or KA, you can buy them where you have a 2 week return policy. After my previous experience, this was very important for my peace of mind. I also put it on a credit card. You also have to keep all the packaging to return it though. Ask and get it in writing before you buy. I would try to look at live models if possible. It may make a difference to you how the lights are configured and whether they stay on during baking. Some people did not like the fact that you cannot use the roller rack on the bottom slot on the Electrolux, when roasting a turkey. You can use the regular rack there. It did not matter to me because I didn't need to get every inch out of my oven on Thanksgiving as in previous years. I have used the self clean and no problems. Others did not like that the door is open on the top and dust can get in. I'm not sure if and when this would be a concern. I have had it since July 1 and there are few grains of dust in the door. I think most oven doors have some type of opening in the door. Pros: Many different cycles so you can set temp all the way down to 85 degrees. Very handy for drying gum paste decorations and other craft work as the convection fan runs! Very easy to get rolling racks out for cleaning. Very fast preheat 0-350 in under 10 minutes. I was missing my small Gemini oven but this is just as quick. Quick to change temperature. The wave touch is easy to use. Just barely touch it. I like the little diagram that lights up and tells you what element is on and if the fan is on. It has very pleasant bells that chime. It keeps very close to the set temperature, except the convection roast runs about 50-60 degrees hot.(my only con) I just adjust down a little. No one oven is the "end all". They all have features that appeal to all kinds of cooks....See MoreBest 30 inch gas wall ovens
Comments (2)The field is pretty small and if you have eliminated the "several new expensive models" you may be out of luck. Did you see the BlueStar? It would seem the best of the lot for you especially since it holds a full commercial sheet. Your best bet might be to bring the GE upstairs and consider something like a commercial oven. I am looking at a Cadco tabletop oven that has humidity control. It is electric but the convection gives the drying of gas ovens so great browning when needed yet you can control humidity which has benefits in starch gelatinization for baking things like breads and cakes. Tabletop ovens can go anywhere. I would like that I can use it on the back porch in the summer. They come sized for 1/4, 1/2 or full sheet. http://www.cadco-ltd.com/convection-ovens.html...See MoreWhich wall oven pairs best with SubZero stainless
Comments (6)If you do a paneled SubZero, you have one less stainless finish to worry about but honestly I would buy the oven at the intersection of price vs. quality vs. features and not worry about matching anyway. It's likely the DW will die first, the ovens will have problems second and the refrigerator is something you will service if it needs it because of the initial expense. But this is the only time you are going to have appliances that are all the same age....See MoreGail S
