Turtle filters are great! In one tank we have
Comments (2)not bask (we used to have a ledge but he/she never used it.) The mudskipper did not either. Maybe it is not a mudskipper but an oysterfish or something; I have noticed some of these oddities change as they age. We will have to watch the channel cat closely; he is apt to get big fast. The Stinkpot turtle and the Plecostomos have an odd sort of friendship, hanging out together. The Stinkpot does sit around with its mouth open and you can see the pink end of its tongue twitching; apparently that turtle can do the snapping turtle trick of luring prey. I suspect some of the minnows will get bitten, but right now everyone is feeding on shrimp and algae pellets happily. It is not a pretty tank but it is interesting....See MoreAbout time the darned thing bloomed again
Comments (7)Very pretty! I just bought one of these at the WOC. It's only two bulbs so it'll obviously be some time before I see the pretty blooms. Are they good growers or sloooooow? Sheila :)...See MoreIs there such a thing as an indoor gas tank?
Comments (8)I think what Emily was talking about is an appliance lift, not a pop-up downdraft. A better bet might be to get an induction burner. They are very popular in Asia for just this kind of setting. It's not an open flame, but you can get the same high heat and hot sides to your wok, especially if you get a dedicated wok unit. Check for more info in the Appliance Forum and on The Induction Site. With induction and a 100% iron or steel pot, the sides get hot the same way they do with a curved pot over a big flame. I can't think of any portable gas unit that has enough heat for stir fry and is safe for use indoors. If you have a proper vent hood, you'll want to use it with your stir fry. You might also check out full sized induction cooktops. Some of them have very powerful elements, though they require flat bottomed woks (some are flat inside and out, some are curved inside and flat on the bottom). You might actually find this adequate. It would make your kitchen design easier for sure. Or, depending on your budget, you could get "dominoes" which are individual units with dedicated functions. One could be for wok, another for regular cooking, etc. Since you're doing a remodel anyway, if you decide to go with a freestanding unit, it might be more comfortable to make a recess in the counter for it, rather than putting it on a lift....See MoreAm I the only one who thinks Shark vacs look like toys?
Comments (5)I recently got new low pile Shaw wall to wall carpeting and treated myself to a new Shark Apex Vacuum, I love it❣️I did a thorough research of upright vacuums. I am known as the “Research Queen”. It has a self cleaning brush roll, a 12” path, also has switches for high pile, low pile and floors. It cleans my flooring beautifully. It is quite powerful....See MoreSue_va
