Comments (26)CEF, piping is actually easy! I made yards and yards of it yesterday in class. And I have sewn maybe 30 minutes in my whole life. I made buttons too. There are machines for everything! Decordummy, I am in love with the palette in this remnant that will go on the back of DR chairs. Found it after I decided on colors and they are all spot on. This is from my little book I made to carry around. I got tired of dragging around the bag-o-house. I'm working on a whole house so I have to stay a little organized. And here's a couple I'm considering There are some that don't photo well, like a burlap with a stripe, some solids and this woven tweedy one - hey, that rosey middle explains why my driftwood pix look pink! And these are the SW paint color chips of the colors in play I'll be using more of the blues in wall color and the painted furniture pieces....See Moreleopard/animal print carpet?
Comments (20)Well, I can help you halfway. I have cheetah print runner going up my curved staircase and the upstairs foyer is carpeted with it as well. I am so bummed I don't have a pic but I can tell you I love it and so does everyone - seriously, everyone - who sees it! I have had it installed for about three months now and I still love looking at it. I seriously doubt I will tire of it for a very long time. It looks fab with my red walls and doesn't compete with the Persian rugs in the front foyer. It is not a super small print yet it works with almost everything. Another plus is that is hides dirt and lint! It rarely looks like it needs vacuuming, even in a high traffic area. I have included a link to my pattern... Comments (24)It's interesting to see how many people talk about liking and following Cooking Light years ago. They went through so many changes, and each one seemed to take them further from what people liked about them. They didn't listen. I too have old CL books, magazines and saved recipes -- a number of them are standards for us. The one thing that never took was their lightened version of Texas Sheet cake. The cake itself wasn't changed much, but they reduced the overall quantity of frosting and the fat in it -- so that is was out of balance with the sugar. If I'm going to make that cake, I make the classic version -- half in an 8x8 pan if it's just for us. ccrunneroklahoma, thanks for noting the different directions. They make more sense to me -- I was thinking the potatoes must be total mush at 40 minutes, much less the kale....See Moreupdating staircase with animal print runner
Comments (7)I would go back to white on the spindles after painting the risers and scrolls on the stairs white. Current runner is okay but I don't love it with the stain color on the floor or with the white paint, it skews kind of pinky-maroony, which I don't dislike but not with the yellow-brown walnut stain on the floors. I would use the money you save by not switching to trendy metal spindles, (The spindles you have would look much nicer on the inspiration staircase than theirs do, in my opinion. The inspiration is a colonial style stair and handrail with Italianate spindles) --the money you save I would go with a wool runner. Even if they age, they age better....See More- 9 years ago
