Animal-Inspired Rugs Call the Wild Indoors
Bring a sense of adventure home with leopard-print runners, red-zebra prints and more

Animal patterns in home decor exude a look is global and primal by nature. Zebra, cheetah, leopard and giraffe prints have always been favorites among trendsetters. This ideabook features some of the best uses of wild-yet-domesticated carpets, from frisky carpet runners to colorful zebra rugs. Browsing through the photos on Houzz, I've seen it all. Join me as I take you for a walk on the wild side.
A leopard-print runner leaves a trail throughout the lower level of the house. Its sprightly pattern adds a touch of the exotic to each of the predominately neutral living spaces.
Show your adventurous side by adding a leopard-print rug in a contemporary space. This print works harmoniously with the drapery and toss pillows and injects an element of fun without being disruptive.
A black-and-white cowhide provides a dose of exaggerated pattern in this high-contrast color scheme.
The layered look of the seagrass rug paired with a sheepskin is a lovely play on textures. The former stands up to high traffic, while the latter's soft, tactile nature is optimal for precious spaces like this nursery.
The seductive side of sheepskin begs to be touched. It's no surprise these rugs also appear draped across furniture as accent pieces.
Hear the call of the wild with this ankle-biting rug. It's quite harmless actually, and provides protection from the early morning chill.
Though I've never seen a orange-and-white zebra in the wild, its look has found its rightful place in home decor. Not only does this idea expand our color creativity, it is an animal-friendly option, too. Clever.

I love the second room with the red accents. It's beautiful and the animal print is just enough to take it over the edge.
