Guess what? its that time of year again, and I'm BAAAAAAAAAAACK!
Comments (12)Awwwe! Thanks guys! Its nice to be back. Jenny, Nice to see you are still here! So there is ANOTHER "vine guy" here now huh? LOL! You see, im not the only nutcase thats obsessed with vines, lol! Im not exactly sure what im going to be doing this summer, or where im going to be doing it, but you can rest assured that there will be vines involved. I already have 6 MF seeds that are now just sprouting, and 14 MG seeds that are all sprouted too, and ready to go in thier starter pots. =o) Girlsaylor, thank you for the kind words. I really appreciate that. I just try and pass along what ive learned myself here or just from my experiences. Im not sure yet if there is anything I want or need that I dont already have, but rest assured that if I do come across something I want and cant easily find, ill definately be asking YOU! =o) Greenfrank, Yep. That would be me. The MF vine was growing into my bedroom window. LOL! And yes those were my storm photos. We had WAY more than out fair share of sever thunderstorms here last summer, and most of those photos were takin one night when we got hit by 5 severe thunderstorms in a ROW, one right after the other. I still dont know yet exactly what my living situation is going to be, but you can rest assured, as I said earlier, that I WILL be gardening, and it WILL include vines! =o) I will definately keep you all posted on what im growin and how its doing. I can tell you my Clematis has already come back, as well as my Catmint, and some of my hosta's too. Theres other things just randomly coming up on my balcony now, but im not exactly sure what they are. I belive that some of them are Catnip seeds, and some are the lambs quarters. Last year I allowed a couple of lambs quaters "weeds" to live on my balcony, but I dont think I will be do ing that ever again, as they are PROLIFIC seeders just like Catnip , and then some. I havent done anything to my balcony yet, its still in the same sad, sorry, and VERY MESSY state its been in all winter. I havent gotten started on it yet because I am unsure if I will be living there this summer or not, and I dont want to start my garden there only to have to take it all down when/ if I move. If a move is going to take place, it probably will happen before the end of may though, so Ill still have a whole summer to get stuff going. Right now, im just starting things for my S/O's balcony. He is also interested in gardening too, and wants to do a very nice garden on his balcony. So well both be d oing that together. =o) Thanks again for all the kind words!...See MoreOh, well : guess I won't plant this weekend after all
Comments (7)The cold is finally somewhat better, but the migraine is still blinding. I will not get a break with that until the weather clears. It's the 4th day. Bending over is still not an option. But at least I feel well enough to do SOMETHING. It was pretty much a "lost weekend". Today, I hope to find permanent homes for all the patio pots I brought in! Half are still on towels in the family room. Husband has not said anything yet, though that's the room he hangs out in, so obviously they are an eyesore. Yes, I have to be careful where I plant. A tentative trowel in, then see what's down there. I hate it when I skewer a bulb. Most of my reticulated iris died out, so I was so happy to find some at Menards, that I bought 4 packages. I'm lucky I really have been planting all along, until the last 2 weeks. Sounds like you are doing well, Sue. Working in stages is the best approach for me too. It does take a lot of extra time to cover the planting area with wire mesh and stake it down, but it means cheating the squirrels out of an costly snack at my expense, so I do it. I don't want to push it too late. The year I did it after Christmas, chipping off the top frozen crust to plant, almost nothing came up....See MoreOpinions please, I'm second guessing my colors
Comments (35)A mood board is a great idea. Force yourself to prioritize. What is the one piece you really don't want to give up. I'm betting its the stove. (That would be mine! That stove is to die for!) So make everything work with that. On my monitor I hadn't seen pink in the granite. Now knowing that, I'd say the cherry color in the cabinet wood is just fine with the granite you chose. Is the color of the stove also present in the granite slab? If it is, you are good. its really hard to judge color from a photo posted online, so here's one 'rule' that may help you focus in on what you -may- want to consider changing. If the color, or any shade of that color is in your granite slab, you can use it in the room. An exact match is not interesting or necessary. Second, you usually want a dominant tome and then other colors you bring out of that slab will be accents, so you won't use so much of them. Now, there are a million caveats to that, and of course, breaking the rules can bring fantastically stunning drama, but I think if you start with that one rule as a starting place, your own vision will begin to materialize. Whatever feels good to you will work. Just keep at it until it gels for you. With all the ideas coming from folks here and what you can see because you're looking directly at the different colors and where they will be in relation to each other, and considering the light in the room, it will begin to come together and you'll get a feel for where you will or won't want to challenge color 'rules'. I should say all of the above goes out the window if you're going for a monochromatic look. LOL BTW, I love my miele vacuum and I didn't even know they make dishwashers, but I can wax poetic about my bosch dishwasher. In addition to how well it functions, I'm very sensitive to background noise and its sooo quiet. Since its the way your faucet will stay where you aim it that really attracts you to it, maybe look at upscale stylized commercial configurations. I don't have any experience to draw on, its just a thought....See MoreI guess I'm not a food snob after all.
Comments (32)I had no idea bacon came from the belly of the pig. But then, I don't eat bacon either. It's not that I don't find it appealingÂI find it hugely appealing! But I try to avoid saturated fat. Actually, for 20 years or so I didn't eat any part of a pig. It started when I read a news report of a pig who swam out into a lake to save a drowning child. That did it for me and pork. And ham. Somehow or other I started eating pork again at some point. After writing this, I'm thinking maybe I should stop. And no, OJ, I would never eat veal. Never. I've seen pictures of what slaughterhouse employees and other charming folk do to those poor animals to keep their flesh white. I would say "slightly poached" isn't necessarily cooked. To me, it means the outside is cooked, and the inside is a runny mass of salmonella bacteria. Hope I didn't spoil anyone's breakfast. :-)...See Moresunnibel7 Md 7
