Please help me with the space my deck left
Comments (10)For your purposes, Lynne, it would be good if you show a closer up photo of one of them. First, I would excavate it completely and clean it up. If any wood remaining in the pedestal can be removed prior to photographing it would be good so people can see exactly everything about what is there. And give measurements of the widest and narrowest parts. Consider also that in trying to come up with a use for your space, one would need to understand the space. Right now, there is nothing to go on....See MoreHelp me redesign my uppers!! (Please!)
Comments (60)oldbat2b, the thing that started me on all glass uppers was that after living here, all that is in the uppers is a few spices and white/glass dishes. I'm not worried about what will be in the cabinets. There will be some decorative things, as I expand my vintage pyrex collection and get my hands on some of the pink stuff (you might be able to see my turquoise set in some of the very first photos of my actual cabinets). The tile is already in production. I'm just trying now to solidify how the 42" on each side of the hood will be set up. This project will take place around March next year, so I have some time to work it out. I also need to decide if I want to hood slanted or straight up and down. I want everything else in the kitchen to remain the same, just trying to rework this one area. I feel like it will be ok if it is different than the rest of the kitchen since it is an area that is kind of set off by the pantry/ovens and can kind of carry its own accent-y style, if that makes sense. Thanks re: the sofa! I love it. It looks lighter in this photo because of the crappy picture with my on-camera flash. It is light grey, but I did just freak out and oxy-clean some chocolate out of it yesterday! haha. It was relatively inexpensive, and I imagine it will be replaced with the kids are teenagers and theoretically less messy. Unless by some miracle it is still clean by then! Do you have a preference aesthetically when looking at the 2 wider vs 3 narrower cabs on each side?...See MoreHelp me re-design my unused formal dining room!! Open to advice please
Comments (10)Is another living room the greatest need you have in your house? Will it be for the kids to hang out in? Or a quieter adult retreat? We turned our dining room into a home office with matching desks facing each other placed in the middle of the room, so together they are about the same size as a dining table. It looks like it might be large enough to fit a modestly sized sofa in there, with a small round table with 2-4 chairs that you could use as a gaming table. Any musicians? What about a music room?...See MoreHelp Me Rearrange/Redesign/Reorganize my Home Office
Comments (8)Can the safe be moved over by the window on the right side? You want to make the most of the long walls for shelving as in your inspiration photo. Empty walls are always just screaming for shelving in my opinion! A desk that incorporates drawers or shelves and a flat space is always better than a simple table like you've got. Either a couple of filing cabinets or two cubbies that are table height will be a great base for the computer desk. I'd run that along the wall where the desk currently resides-I'm assuming the safe is in that corner out of the photo? Then put shelving up on that wall. You can get inexpensive brackets at the hardware store and they sell wood that you can either paint or stain, or melamine covered shelving in lengths up to 12'. They'll even cut them to size for you! A plain hollow core door would make a great desk top-they're cheap at the the Orange Apron hardware store. I always make sure that anything that needs to be plugged in, like the computer, printer, a lamp are closest to the outlets. My office/craft room is tiny but I have a nice wooden desk with drawers on either side, and a farmhouse type table across from one another. A bookcase on one end and a sewing machine table on the other. On the walls I've hung some cabinets I got at Ikea in the clearance section, on all other walls I've hung shelves to hold baskets, books, scrapbook paper, etc. My room doesn't have a floor to ceiling window but there are two windows which limit where I can put things. I haunt thrift stores for furniture I can paint or repurpose, baskets and containers to store things in. Luckily my town has dozens of them, plus a Habitat for Humanity ReStore, and we're within an hours drive of Ikea. I've managed to outfit my office on a tight budget, also utilizing Craigslist too....See Morejlc712
