99' Blazer won't start when it's cold!

I would love to talk to John_G. I read some responses he left for someone (toasted311) about a truck not starting. 02/15/2006 I have a 99 chevy blazer that doesn't want to start when it's cold and damp out. (Mostly cold.) I have replaced the Plugs, Wires, Distributor cap and button, and Fuel Pump almost 2 years ago. Didn't make a difference. Then it got warmer out and didn't have a problem but now it's winter again and same thing all over again. I just changed the distributor itself with a new cap and button, and cleaned the mass air flow and changed the air idle control valve. Now it's running worse than it was ( Wants to stall when I stop and idle is fluctuating up and down.) Still doesn't want to start when it's cold and it sits like while I'm at work. I park in my garage at night and it starts just fine in the morning! If anyone can help me I'd appreciate it very much!!

Has any trouble codes been set? If so, these may give a clue of where to start looking.

The other possibility is that the battery voltage might be too low while cranking at cold temperatures. Several electronic ignition systems will fail to fire if the supply voltage falls below 9 volts. If the battery is more than 3 yrs old, or does not have enough cold cranking amps (CCA), it may not have enough capacity to start the engine,

Thank you jemdandy for responding. Yes it says something with the emissions and it said random misfire and misfire on cylinder 3 but after I changed the distributor the misfires didn't come up but then after I changed the air idle control valve it said misfire on cylinder one. So I went yesterday and got a new coil and plugs so I'll see if that does anything to remedy the situation.

"Check your valve clearances which is easy to do on your engine. They may be too wide defeating the compression release" Compression release seems to be working based on the feel of the pull force on the rewind starter. Your right, easy to check though. I should probably get the specs on the starter motor and test it too.

OK I'm not that gullable. So what your saying is the japaneeze engine is better than you JD which is probably is beings JD don't make it. By the why does JD make any engines anymore?? OK I frogot the plant in china! Please, all engines have carb problems eventually, even the infamous Kaw's especially if you don't do pre-ventive maintenance. If it an't getting gas it's not going to fire, that's why the starting fluid fires it off, if it had igintion weak enough not to fire off gas I dought it would fire off starting fluid and keep running. Most ingition parts get weak as they warm up or fail all at once. I suspose you JD never needed a battery either cuz it had JD on it. Yep, I sure would spend big bucks ignition parts before I made sure it not a carb. problem!
