Will the real Moonlit Masquerad please stand up
Comments (9)I believe #1 is Moonlit Masquerade and #2 is Raspberry Candy. Here are pics of mine. MOONLIT MASQUERADE RASPBERRY CANDY DEWBERRY CANDY looks very similar to RASPBERRY CANDY, except the bloom is a bit smaller. I have that one too, but I can't find a photo right now. Comments (14)Ronny - I'm not a food critic, but I'd describe the big red ones as mild with a complex flavor, something like a cross between citrus, berries, and lovage. Quite tasty. I was actually thinking earlier that if I had to name them, it might be something like "Inca (I'm sure it's a cross) Loves (short for lovage) Fruit (citrus and berries)." I haven't had a chance to taste IRD yet, so no idea how close the flavors are. Brian - Thanks so much. I'm glad one is the IRD. I'm actually thinking of overwintering mine. At least I can be sure I wont be late getting it started next year. Lol....See MoreWill the real Patriot please stand up?
Comments (13)That's very interesting Gary. I happen to purchase a good sized Francee just this year. I definitely see the resemblance when comparing Francee with Patriot #2 and Patriot #3. I see the wider margin, some slight cupping and a thicker substance. But Patriot #1 has a much wider margin, is a lighter green and has less cupping. So you are thinking that the reason for this is a different tissue culture batch. Thanks for your very good guess Jo! When you say "To my eye, Minuteman most resembles Francee and that is how I remember," did you see this in a nursery or someone's garden? I should put the Francee pot next to the possible Minuteman and take a picture to note the resemblance. I'll see about that tomorrow....See MoreWill the real 'Blue crown' please stand up ...
Comments (5)Omar, thank you! I had forgotten that you gave me Snow queen! The foliage looks different on the link with five deeply separated lobes instead of the three that my photo shows, although in the discussion it's said that it sometimes has three lobes, so the leaves may produce more lobes as it matures. We'll see and we'll know for sure when it blooms. I may move it to a place of it's own now that I know it's probably ID, or in case it turns out to be one of the rampant growing cultivars. Have you found P. 'snow queen' to be an overly enthusiastic grower/spreader? [Here[(https://www.houzz.com/discussions/maypop-aggressiveness-do-leaf-lobes-matter-dsvw-vd~2233558) is a discussion of three and five lobbed passifloras....See Moredecordummy_gw
