Photo program do you use for your roses

What photo program do you use for your roses, and for your family if you use different programs.

I have a new I Phone, and a rather new laptop.

My desktop asked me to choose, and gave me about 6 options. Of them Windows Photo Viewer, HP Connected Photo, and Photo Gallery seemed to be some I recognized. I think I will get Windows Office, and it might have a program. It looks like there are many options, but whatever I choose will be something I must learn.

Also, is it difficult to get photos here?

Where is everyone? Oh, I see that Houzz has a photo too, but maybe that is for storing photos to use here.

At this point I have been afraid to venture far from this site because it took me so long to get here in the first place.

I wonder if many cannot get on. I think I am out of room.

..of those you mention, I probably use Windows Photo Viewer the most, but I also have Play Memories Home, which I think is a Sony thing...it came with my camera and I need it for that.... I also use Picasa Web Albums but less so these days....

...it's good now that we can upload direct from our photo gallery so it dispenses with the need for an external hosting site if you want to post more than one photo at a time.....

...I hope you are finding your way around the forum... I'm probably out on my own here, but I find I prefer it now to the old site... I think it's important to get your settings just the way you want them and to make use of those that can be very useful to you, once you realise just how they work....

Thanks Marlorena. I have Windows, and will probably go with that. I am not sure how to post photos here, but will learn. You've inspired me to try to look at other forums, especially Roses and the Oklahoma forum.

I had adjusted GW years ago because my eyes are sensitive to bright white. Therefore what I read is a pleasant lavender gray. I am typing on white now, but the reading other posts is what is most important to me.

CI, TZ, SdlM all growing nicely now. I think this will be a good fragrance bed. I put Lion's rose in the back to add beauty and a good leafy background even though it isn't much on scent. I think if the base gets shaded by the others, it won't get disease. There's room to the right of Abe Darby for one more big rose. I think it's going to be Evelyn. Hopefully, it will work some magic for me. This is a good morning sun spot and gets shade in the hottest times of the day. My summer is a little hotter than Hoovb's but maybe it's close enough. I'm going to hope for the best. The only downside to this location is that it will take the full force of the Santa Ana wind from across the street. We are along the Santa Ana river channel and the wind blows strongly through the gap. It seems to be shifting later than Halloween now. I used to call it the Halloween Wind.

What sprayer do you use to spray your roses?

I bought the 'SpotShot Battery-Powered Sprayer' from Rosemania 3 years ago. It has a 7-gallon capacity sprayer and comes with two different sprayer heads. It is mounted on a 2-wheel cart which is excellent for wheeling around and has 50-feet of hose and a very long wand for hard-to-get places. I paid $399 plus an extra $40 for longer hose. The wand is easy to handle and allows you to reach up to taller climbers and in awkward places to spray. What used to take hours can now be completed in 1.5 hours and then I'm off to other garden chores. The tank is easy to fill and clean; an added bonus. Best investment ever IMO...only had to replace the battery once in 2 years and I use it every 2 weeks. If you have alot of roses, I recommend this sprayer. I use Picassa 3. After you click on your picture, you will get a screen with the picture and a menu on the left side. Click on ABC to add text. You then put your cursor on the picture where you want the text to go, choose the print size you want. When finished, click APPLY. This is how I do it with all my pictures.

I'm with mustbnuts - I simply can't fertilize monthly or multiple times or I'd get nothing else done in the garden and no time to enjoy the roses. In a good year, I give the established roses one dose in spring of: .5-1 cup of 10-10-10 fertilizer and the same amount of Ironite (amount depends on size of rose), plus a generous handful or two of alfalfa hay. My new roses are always planted with manure and alfalfa hay, and they don't want anything granular or it can cause damage. Madakatude, I find that the hay is a safe and easy way to get the alfalfa to the roses. I'm with you that I can't handle the tea, and couldn't possibly make enough for all my roses. I tried the alfalfa pellets one year but they got wet and rolled next to the canes, making a toxic soup that ate away at the bark and killed about 30 roses before I caught it. The hay decomposes gradually and encourages basal breaks, so it is a good partner to the more rapid acting synthetic fertilizer. I buy alfalfa bales (the chopped is much better in small chunks) and either put it around the roses in handfuls, or gleefully toss it onto rose beds where the roses are planted thickly. Once this fertilizer is down, I reach down and "ruffle the hair" of the mulch under the roses so it's not too thick in any one place, and the alfalfa is disguised under my leaf mulch. I got about 500 roses fertilized last weekend and will finish the other half this weekend, presuming I can handle the uncharacteristic 90+ degree weather that just won't leave. I have liquid fertilizers that I always intend to use mid-season for all the roses, or more particularly for the wimpy growers, but I never seem to get around to it. So basically, one administration of one round of fertilizer is all any roses get. I have pretty good soil and I faithfully amend it with organics year round, and that also counts as long term "feeding" of the roses in the big picture. Cynthia

I use Photoshop Elements, which works in Windows. Because I do publications, I need a bit more resources, and it's a pretty powerful "home use" program.

Lightroom is what I usually use because I can process a bunch of photos at one time. I also pay for a hosting site because when I have had time I have done a variety of photography topics. I am able to upload and just drop the links

A recent change allows us to edit, thankfully. My brain was not firing right when I wrote the title of this post. I guess it is obvious that I would like to know what types of photo programs you use. Thank you for what you have suggested. I will be more careful with my title in the future.

I use Photoshop Elements too and really love it. It can take a really bad photo and make it acceptable very nicely. You can't really make any kind of adjustments in the Windows Viewer. I can lighten really underexposed photos and, maybe, save a not too overexposed photo. Then I can crop, resize and save and be done. There are tons of other features too, of course, and you can get really artsy fartsy if you want to. It's not too too expensive for all the versatility it gives you.

Thank you so much for your suggestions. I will look up Photoshop Elements, and also check on Windows Photo Viewer. The Windows should be here on my computer, and possibly is what I used to use on my older computer.

You don't have to get this fancy, but here's an example of some of what I can do with Photoshop Elements.

The heart was clip art from the Internet. The dog photos were three different photos, each with the background dropped out. All assembled on a blank white background, with type added. I never buy greeting cards . . .

Jeri, that is really professional looking. I keep wondering how I can possibly get my three Goldens to hold still for a picture. Yours are beautiful, and you could never tell that the pictures were separate. I need to try this --
