Comments (19)Thanks, guys. The date for the surgery is June 10, but I don't have a time yet. It'll take place in a short-stay surgery facility. I didn't tell him about the blood sugar, but the scheduling person said morning is never an option. Weird. Must be what you said, Mcmann, about major procedures in the morning. A friend of mine just told me that they probably give the anesthesia (Diprivan) because the act of numbing the arm is very painful. I asked the doctor if he could do it with just a local, and he said he could, but he'd rather not. So that's still a possibility, but even an uncooperative patient like me would like her surgeon to feel completely satisfied with the parameters under which he operates, at least when he's operating on me. :-)...See MoreAlisande - Did you survive your opening?
Comments (7)Thanks, Maire Cate. I did enjoy it, although that seemed unlikely by the time I had the car packed with food and wine to bring to the event. It was SO hot yesterday, hazy and extremely humid--difficult conditions for making any kind of physical effort. Then when I arrived and started setting things up things got off to an . . . unusual start. Using a corkscrew to open a bottle of red wine, I managed to break the cork, leaving about a quarter of it in the bottle. I decided to push it through, into the bottle. (I've since learned this is something people try only once.) When I did, the wine sprayed up like a fountain, covering me and the table with droplets of red. It was in my hair, and worse than that, it was all over my pure white linen top. I grabbed napkins and started blotting. I think I was mumbling, "This didn't happen . . . this didn't happen . . . " Amazingly, the little red spots blotted up nicely, so that they weren't noticeable unless I pointed them out. (Which I didn't do except with my daughter and my best friend.) As I'd hoped, adrenalin carried me through. As long as I was "on," with people to talk to, I felt fine. I drank water and nibbled on pretzel sticks. I haven't counted up the number of people yet, but I know we had at least 30. Almost all were my friends, so that gave it a nice party atmosphere. I didn't take a single picture, but I'm meeting my granddaughter there this afternoon and will snap some photos then. She couldn't come yesterday because she had to work. I was happy to see my daughter arrive, though. I was afraid she wouldn't be able to make it because she was stuck at O'Hare (with no A/C) much of the night before. But she got there, and stayed till the end to help me clean up. As for sales.........ha! Just one of the smaller ones was sold. I wasn't expecting any sales, so I wasn't disappointed. I woke up in a sweat again last night. I sure hope this isn't an indication that the fever was back. I especially hope this because I exchanged a lot of hugs and kisses last night. Most people knew I'd been sick, but figured I'd recovered, I guess. And, for those few hours, so did I. :-)...See MoreAlisande, this may interest you ...
Comments (7)Eeek! I could watch only a short bit. Yes, my DS does climb, but not that high! His tallest tower is 120 feet, or 12 stories--high enough to send me to the chiropractor with muscle spasms more than once when he was building it. He has a harness, and I remind him that he should use it all the time. Since I avoid watching him climb, I don't know if he heeds my advice or not. He obviously wasn't using it here, at 70 feet up: Or here, where he appears to be in someone's air space. (His fiancee--now wife!--took this one while he was dismantling a tower that he'd bought.) Yikes--I don't even like looking at these pictures!...See Morealisande!!

I followed Chi83's directions to show photos to the left of the threads (if the thread contains a photo), so I think I'll add a photo to this message and see if it shows up on the list of threads even though I didn't start the thread with a photo. I hope that was a clear sentence, but I have my doubts. :-)

11 years agoEven though I have "confirmed", I still see the request to confirm on the right side. Since I have already confirmed, I'm just ignoring it. I don't logout, so I haven't had any problems coming right back in at any time. I am going to add a picture just because it is so easy to do. I really like that feature!!
