To what extent do your lower cabinet dimensions "mirror" your uppers?

I've largely taken the function over form approach throughout my (small) kitchen planning. However the width of the upper cabinets were the same as the lowers (not really by plan). There were two sides with no uppers where the spice racks/ narrow pullouts were supposed to be.

Adding a small prep sink has resulted in this going askew (one of the lowers are now 16 inches wide).

This is a form over function question but... to what extent do your lower cabinets "mirror" your upper cabinets?

Thanks
